I fully agree. A bit worried a grudge between Lillnyllet and Grönborg will have a negative effect on the team and the morale, though.

That would be one hell of a TOP6 next year and the rest would be no slouch eiter (Jenys, Vopelka, Kase, Stransky...)

Pastrnak, Vrana and maybe even Zacha could be in the NHL by that time though.

Nylander has been the least of our problems so far. He could very well play better as a winger but I don't see the need to move him from the position he likes at this point. He's gonna have to have a monster tournament for our team to have success it seems, not sure if Grönborg is the guy that can make it work.
 
i have bad feelings about this. i expect something like 5:2 for Sweden, with 3:0 after the 1st. but I'm always pessimistic especially when it comes to our junior NT. so we will see

Wow. and that is why we won silver at the world u18s. that's a filthy line up.

Pastrnak will most likely be in the NHL yes. But Zacha wont and Vrana is only a maybe in my mind. He definetly could be but Washington is deep and I think he will either stay in SHL one more year or AHL.

I agree, only Pastrnak will play NHL next season IMO.
 
I have no idea what to expect from this years group of swedes. We stand or fall with Nylander, he has to do something spectacular for good things to happen. And besides him the returnees from last year must perform at a high level.
 
Haven't been this much uncertainty around a Swedish wjc team in years. There are some really good pieces but the disastrous defensive effort in the pre games and the iffy goaltending create a lot of question marks. Player for player I like our D-men and there are enough talent amongst the forwards to provide offense but so far they have all looked disjointed. I don't think they've brought the right goalies either, there are goalies in Sweden who are playing better atm but they've gone with the known commodity instead, which is fine if there's an elite talent but imo none if the guys actually are. The only elite talent was left at home and instead they picked ok to good goalies who have either been off their game or injured lately.

Well, I think it would be best for all of them to stay another year from NHL but you never know with NHL teams. Pastrnak is close now already, so I agree he'll be a hot candidate next year. I guess Vrana should still be available next year but nothing sure (see Burakovsky). And in Zacha's case it will depend the most on who will draft him. Since he's pretty much physically ready for NHL, some team could give him a spot right away (like Nichushkin, Barkov or Draisaitl). Not saying it would be the best for him but it might happen.
 
Gonna be a tough game. I wouldn't be surprised at all with the Czech winning this one. I say 4-2 for the czechs.
 
If sweden wants to go far in this tournament grönborg needs to keep nylander happy. Right now he is doing the exact opposite. I want rönnberg back :(

Do you think Boston would release him for the WJC even if he's in the NHL? Am I right in thinking they did it with Voracek?

No Voracek wasn't released in his 19 year old season. And I highly doubt that Pastrnak will. In his short 5 game stint with Boston he was very impressive and will most likely play with them most of the year.
