GDT: Group A - May 21 - Finland vs Germany

He did not have to fill the roster so early as he did. That was just plain foolish.
Yes, but it's not like there was anyone coming. Jalonen's assistant coaches are coaches from the Liiga finals so he knew who was coming and who was not. They knew very early no one was coming from NHL and KHL guys said no too.

Again, so tell me why Heponiemi is not playing in this tournament? Would easily be the second best offensive player after Kakko. Lousy selection. At least Jalonen could have picked one decent line who could have created something on the PP as well. Vittu!

Any comments on the strong play from Kaski there? WHY IS HE PLAYING??? :D

Is Jalonen so blind?
Guy's dumb as a sack of potatoes. Whoever signs him will make a mistake.

And his season ticket for power play seems to have no expiration date.

Heponiemi was outplayed by plethotra of players in the playoffs. He needs to get stronger.

Both the Swiss and Czech team would mash Team Finland. Just take a look at that game.

They can't. They'll finish 2nd in the group regardless of how the USA-CAN game ends.
I think they're third if US wins in OT or penalties.

Edit. Not sure what's the tie breaker in this tournament. Finland beat Canada, but have worse goal differential.

Have you followed these events before? It's standard procedure to finalize the roster once you know there's no more help coming from North America. You don't hold roster spots open for Euro-leaguers who have already failed to make the cut once. That's not how international hockey works.

Who is that?
Any Maple Leaf fan who watched in the pre-lockout 2000's knows him well lol. His one year after the lockout was painful.

Just looked him up for a trip down memory lane, weird to think he is only turning 42 this year, I really thought he was older!

kakko was clearly the best Finnish player in the game

it really hurts to see that the skill level drastically drops behind him.

It clearly showed to miles away Finland wasn't even interested to win this game and their group.
Now we'll play in quarterfinal vs Sweden or Czech Republic and i don't see these so called '' lions'' can beat NHL loaded Sweden or Czechs.

And if Jalonen makes some roster changes for Thurday's game can he please take that f***ing bum Kaski out of the lineup. It can't get any worse to play with 7th dman. Steve Yzerman and Detroit Red Wings will regret signing Kaski when they realize what kind of bust they have got in Kaski.

In these IIHF men's worlds Kaski hasn't showed and proved nothing why he should play in NHL next season.

Nah, Finland lost on purpose because beating Sweden is sweeter than beating Switzerland.

Seriously speaking, Germany was hungrier. They want to avoid Russia but maybe this win won't help.
