Frankly, I have no idea how this will end.
The slovakian defense (Jaros in particular) and their goalies didn't convince me vs. Team Canada - meaning we'll probably score some more goals tomorrow. But Slovakia also has some exciting offensive dudes, so this match will be a close call.

Team Germany 4 - Team Slovakia 3, after penalties :sarcasm:

(as a homer)

An absolutely crucial key-match; if Germany wins in 60 mins it is a done deal for Slovakia. No QFs.

It gets very interesting if Germany wins in OT or SO. Then Germany rises to 11 points and Slovakia to 4 points when as Slovakia plays three matches they are expected to win when as Germany play against Canada, USA and Finland and need two points from those games.

If Slovakia wins in 60 mins it is almost certain that they make it to the QFs. Germany at 9 points and facing those three tough teams when as Slovakia at 6 points and facing Denmark, France and GB.

So a do-or-die match for both teams.

I wouldn't count Denmark out either... nice looking team.

I love Drai and am happy Germany is doing better.

However, Go SLOVAKS GO!

Slovakia 4-2

Honestly, I expect this to be a walk in the park for Slovakia. Germany hasn't convinced me at all so far despite their three wins. The only bright spot has been Seider so far. The rest is pretty, "mehhh". Even Draisaitl isn't really that sharp.
5-2 Slovakia.

5-2 Slovakia.

I wasn't impressed by their play either so far, but they did what they needed to do in order to get all the points that they needed. And I expect them to give their best performance yet against Slovakia.

Anything else but a loss to Slovakia would surprise me a lot, we're just not skilled enough.
Still hoping we'll be able to pull off some cheesy win.. :naughty:

Germany has clearly the better goaltender and Draisaitl. If it is enough to beat Slovakia,.we will see

Alright, a game to look forward to today. and a mid afternoon start which means I wont be too busy doing the work thing. Go Deutschland.

Slovakia has been on par with USA, Finland and Canada. I don't think they will lose to Germany, Germany has lost their spirit with the departure of Marco Sturm.

I agree with everybody on here criticizing the german performance. So far it feels like we've been playing with anaesthesia - absolutely B-O-R-I-N-G!
Hasn't exactly been a head-turner, and line chemistry seems to be an ongoing issue.
Happy only with a few players like Plachta, Ehliz, Hager, Seidenberg, and of course Seider + all our goalies, but all in all we need to be 100% better vs. Slovakia.
I really hope the Slovaks will get under our skin, and make us angry & finally wake up.

"They have the best team what I've ever seen," said Kahun about slovakian team before this match (source: šport.sk).

Mind games?

Maybe. Though the way I read the quote is that he meant the best Slovak team he has ever seen. And perhaps he meant it in terms of the ones he has played against.

Čiliak in the net for Slovakia

Big mistake I'm afraid. Not that Rybar was any good against Canada, but I think he's fundamentally the better goaltender of the two. Not saying that Ciliak was to blame for that last second loss against Canada, but he wasn't even close to stopping that last shot. He was way too deep in his crease, down on his knees, unable to track the puck and barely reacted to the shot. But any goalie can have a good game, I hope he'll surprise me.

I'm also very nervous about all of his saves. Rybar showed some confidence in the game against USA, then the CAN game wasn't very fortunate one for him, but Ciliak was solid replace after him. Except the last goal of course - that was cheap as you said. I hope today will be a better day for Ciliak.
