His ass was inside the goal crease. But yeah, very, very harsh. And not understandable.

Decisions are made by video ref, not by ref on the ice.

They said on German television (!) that one part of the body inside the crease means you're inside the crease. But I agree on your point.

I thought that "in the goal crease" referred to the position of the skates?

I think the reason for the call is that Ehliz's skate made slight contact with Dahm's stick while the shot was already underway. Ridiculous call in any case.

Most ridiculous ref ever. The Danish player gets a penalty for his dive and Holzer gets a penalty for a foul. so either it's a dive then there was no foul or it was a foul and there was no dive. one thing excludes the other. Like wtf?

Embellishment can happen on fouls as well. I don't agree with the decision to call that here but they're not mutually exclusive calls.
