Ohh and as a Leaf fan I just want to remind everyone. Gauthier had another solid game ;)

If one would be objective, there is nothing in Gauthier's play that catches the eye - except the size.

So far Canada has played 3 inferior teams and playing 4th line minutes against weak opposition is no barometer for his long term projection. He kinda reminds me of Kevin Veilleux. ;)

Again, you're missing the point. It's not about backing down. You can still be tough without throwing punches with your gloves on.

promise me son, not to do the things I've done
walk away from trouble if you can
it don't mean your weak if you turn the other cheek
I hope your old enough to understand
son you don't have to fight to be a man

the gambler abides. At least the finn didnt get the gatlin treatment. this is such a non issue. the IIHF refs frequently give minors for " hitting a guy too hard", should we lay off the body fo fear of getting some ridiculous call ?

a guy runs your cap in the numbers you gotta do something. not doing anything sends a way worse message.

What song starts playing just after the Bell Center goal horn goes off at the end of the game, anyone know?

Oh man, that just took me back to being 8 years old and hearing my mom play her Kenny Rogers albums. Of course in the end he kicks the ***** of the guys who messed with his girl so I think we know what the message is for Jake ;)

It's one thing to stand up for your captain it's another to just flip out and rage and throw punches. Virtanen completely lost it. All I'm saying is usually in IIHF tournaments the refs are just waiting to call something like that. He's gotta be careful. Again good for him for standing up for his captain but damn no need to rage out and start throwing punches like that.

I thought Vertanen went to edge of the line with his actions but didn't cross it. I was actually impressed with his restraint. I guess we have different concepts of what "Raging" and "completely losing it" looks like. I Didn't see it as either.

So? Why does he have to hear the Canadian coach at all? Hire a frigging translator if you care. Also, maybe a life skills coach...

Go ahead an answer in finnish next time as suggested by some. No one cares what he has to say anyway, if he's going to act like a little *****.

Always drama with some countries.... :shakehead
You didn't see Periwinkles post?

And what if he took a suspension? Still worth it?

I know you've watched the games as much as I have and know IIHF officiating is questionable, inconsistent and extremely sensitive to any form of aggression. When roughing persists the rules of fighting apply... meaning 5 and a game at minimum and suspension possible. And for what? So a bunch of internet tough-guys can puff their chest and define what 'real hockey' is and pretend that *that* is why Canada won a game they would've won (and were winning) 9 times out of 10 anyways? Lazar himself was even trying to step in and knock some sense into Virtanen.

This isn't the dub and all the Virtanen fanboys would've been crying in their milk when Gauthier plogged along while Virtanen sat in the press box.

The last sentence shows your crystal clear motive.

Absolutely hilarious.

Anyone knows what kind of penalties that illeagal press conference by IIHF rules got and whose faul was it?

Hockey Canada must pay for the next batch of Jortikka's blood pressure medication.

Of course, once they found that it's going to be about 30% of their annual budget, they kicked themselves on the hind side for simply not accepting that $10,000 fine IIHF was proposing first.

You mean the poor sportsmanship shown after losing? Just a loss of respect, I've heard.

No. I don't mean it, but thanks for the information that there wasn't any fines for than Jortikka's whining.

You mean the ignoring of IIHF's rules? Nothing more, than that Canadien coach going to sit 30mins in press conference where is spoken only Finnish in next year ;D

Yup. Its poor behavior by the organizer, it is obvious. Not as dramatic as it sounds here at hfboards though.
