Post-Game Talk: Grinding out wins like we’re constipated

Actually, no it can't...not on here anyways.

I've made many a posts on goal breakdowns. Ive been blasted many times that the sole blame always lies on Skinner despite evidence to the contrary

It's hilarious now seeing this statement made...to suit the same narrative
I can’t help that people don’t subscribe to your arguments. That’s on you Bob.

But yes, 2 things can definitely be true at the same time.

So the lesson is - never start Skinner two games in a row?

Still need the Pickard wins. I like Pickard but if we start stacking more starts on him his wins might start getting more rare.

Maybe we actually need a legit 1A 1B setup if we insist on sticking with The Stache. We are probably missing the 1A part of that equation though.

They looked incredibly disinterested which is shocking for a team battling for their playoff lives. If any franchise needs an enema it's that one.

Not to take away from the Oilers who played a decent game but the Rangers sure made it easy on them.

Edit: The Rangers did play 3 in 4 nights and on a second of a back to back so perhaps that explains it
The first game was a shellacking. 6-2, and this one was similar, if anything the Oilers dominated this game more. That prior game had sunk the Rangers season, they went into a tailspin after that. We're their kryptonite apparently.

They need a clean up in NY. Its a country club up there.

Come on Drivesaitl. I know you hate #33, bit your take on his game today is completely wrong. He had an excellent game - kept O-zone pressure, great forechecking, and, of course the goal. He wasn't muscled off the puck today like many days...

#53 looks good out there. I hope he gets more playing time.

If there's going to be someone who should be the one we're picking on, it's #42. Waste of a roster spot...
Didn't really see it that way. Arvid looks busy on most nights. Doesn't mean he's being particularly impactful. I'm sure not about to reverse stance over one game and a fluke goal deflected by Rangers stick.

Win's a win I guess but man alive this team is wretched to watch. Old, slow, and plodding. Ugh.

Also nice to see this site back alive again
Not to critique a win but yeah. I've needed a lot of coffee to watch this road trip. Other than Drai playing great and Connor skating right into road blocks the team is pretty boring. The games drag on like a podcast.

Arvidsson plays eerily simiar to your previous champion, Yakupov :naughty:

This is the guy that was bumblebee just last week. I thought it was a parody account. Now a lot is explained since the board has reverted to the previous names.

I thought the Podz-RNH-Arvid line was fairly noticeable (in a good way) last night. When Hyman, Kane, Frederic are all healthy...there will be some interesting choices to make line-up wise.

Podz is hard to figure out where to put in the line-up. Teammates love him, and occasionally he shows some flashes (thought the pass behind the net to RNH was great) but at the end of the day, the lack of offence is tough to figure out where to put him.

I still think we'll see the Arvid investment pay out fully in the playoffs.

Concerned about the lingering Ekholm injury (virus?). If he's not back fully, that's a big hit for playoff chances.
That was a nice pass. Sure it was. But honestly the amount of plays he makes has slowed down to few as well. From a guy that was drafted to be an offensive talent and that has size he should be making some more plays like that.

Arvid is not a playoff performer. heavier games tend to expose him and he gives pucks away a lot. Biggest concern with him in playoffs is missed shots that end up setting breakouts for opponents and ill advised passes that get turned the other way. He's a high event player in playoffs, but his production doesn't justify it. Maybe he was forcing things in LA but I still see him doing it a lot. Not disciplined with his puck movement.

I'd guess the team made the Walman trade assuming he'd be the RD, with Kulak as the fallback. I doubt they'd want Walman on the bottom pair so it looks like Nurse-Walman should get to know each other

They were out together to close out the game. I think they did the same against the Isles.

That was just an ugly game, for two teams sitting where they are in the standings I expected better. It’s usually a great match up between these teams, I think the Rangers are toast, no playoffs. Oilers, likely an early playoff exit.

Arvidsson is Yamamoto
Podkolzin is Puljujarvi
Finkle is Einhorn
Dylan Holloway is a St. Louis Blue

i hate this f***ing front office so much

I haven't followed him that much but his personal history is that he has dressing room troubles everywhere he goes?

Strange that the Media keep saying he's a great guy in the locker room. If so then why is he such a malcontent?
My general understanding he’s an aggressive blowhard that seems to rub a lot of people the wrong way.

I just realized Dallas has been less than mid with Rantanen. They needed a Dman not a forward. I think they needed a guy like Jake Walman.

I'm glad we stole him
Yup. Oh my oh my oh my the meltdown some ppl had on here when Fla got Seth Jones

Has anyone bothered to check how his last 7 games have gone? It's not pretty

Trades like that confirm success or failure in the playoffs, not the first seven games. Saying that, I'm loving it.

According to NHL EDGE stats, the Oilers are the 2nd fastest team in the league on average.

I wish they had an NHL edge stat for fastest and most effective puck movement. We would have to be near last.

The "too slow!" narrative drives me crazy because they aren't. The only forwards up front that aren't at least average speed wise are Perry and arguably Jeff Skinner. Everyone else is at least average, with most being better than average. The reason we look slow is because our passing is atrocious which bogs us down significantly.

Its been interesting to me how we were too old and slow in October when the team was disjointed and lazy, all of a sudden weren't too old and slow at all from November - January when the team was playing a connected and competent brand of hockey, only to again be too old and slow the moment they reverted to playing disjointed and lazy again. The puck movement and team connectivity is slow, not the skating speed.
