Did anyone ever mention who was the first to say "forecheck, backcheck, paycheck" ?
I can't remember where it came from and it's bugging me a bit.
Was it in Slapshot?

I just did a quick search and found this quote attributed to the great Gilbert Perreault:

We’re on the verge of being really spoiled with the amount of power-forwards this team has acquired and developed. After a dearth of that type of player since the end of the Quinn days it’s nice to have three heavy and skilled forwards in Knies, McMann, and Grebenkin.

He looks a little bit crazy, but in hockey that's a good thing.

From what I've seen he's a player that makes sure he has an impact in every game he plays, and if that means running someone over, getting up in a goalie's face or diving desperately trying to stop a 2-on-1 pass he'll do it. Energy guy all around.

That’s just pre-requisite in today’s NHL. But you build a team like that the upshot is it gives the skilled, more finesse guys support and room to breathe.

As for Gilbert Perreault, No. 11 in your program but No. 2 on the list of most exciting puck carriers ever (after you know who), at least in the 70’s and 80’s you didn’t get the paycheck without the forecheck or the backcheck. Kevin Dupont’s interview with ex-Bruins GM Mike O’Connell in Sunday’s Boston Globe seems like an appropriate occasion to revisit some of our own viewpoints on rule changes and lines on the ice.

Dubas would be all over it...he drafted Robertson and he loves undersized players At this point I would take a 3rd or 4th rounder for him. Robertson just doesnt fit withbthis current tean...square peg and round hole.

He put up some really good numbers as a 20 year old playing in a grown man's league in Russia for championship winning Magnitogorsk.

They've been keen on him getting a chance. Hope he embraces and takes it now - in 1 night of watching him for 11 minutes, he brought more energy than Reaves did in 18 games so far this season

Tearful Kyrou sorry for Berube remarks after boos

Blues star Jordan Kyrou was overcome with emotion after Thursday night's 4-2 win over Ottawa, saying it was tough to be booed by fans following comments he made about former coach Craig Berube.

When Kyrou was asked about his relationship with Berube on Thursday, he responded: "I've got no comment. He's not my coach anymore." Meanwhile, Kyrou praised interim coach Drew Bannister, calling it a "fresh start" for the team and a chance to "get our culture back a little bit."

Kyrou said he realized his comments had gone viral hours before the Blues' game against the Senators.

"Sorry if it sounded in a bad way at all," he said. "I'm just really trying to focus on the future here and focus on what I can do to help get the wins for the boys."

Kyrou acknowledged that Berube helped round out his game and make him a more complete NHL player.
