Young BruinsView attachment 382700 During his rookie season, Bobby Orr received a lot attention from the Boston media. On October 24, 1966, "The Boston Globe" provided what - apparently - was a feature story with a number of photos taken at the apartment Orr shared in Nahant (a half hour drive from Boston) with Ross Lonsberry, Joe Watson and another young fellow who looks a lot like Joe.
My cousins lived in Nahant.

So Lafleur was making about three times the cost of a typical house in 1978. Three times the cost of a typical house in Vancouver now is about $6 million, so it’s not really that far off.

Just looking at it in terms of inflation, Lafleur and Dryden were making the equivalent of around $750K a year. Certainly nothing like what players today make, but still a high-dollar living.
