I seem to remember that in the 1960s, the penalty "box" had a shared bench! You take two guys who've been socking each other, sit them side-by-side and expect them to behave. Somehow, it usually worked.

East German national team did a two-week training camp in North Korea in 1987, interestingly results of the games against the hosts were completely suppressed and do not appear in publications to this day.
Good ole Bobby Sheenan, first American to play for the Habs. I skated on the same rinks as he did and all our coaches used to use his name to motivate us to practice, practice and practice some more to be like Bobby.Remember Bobby Sheehan's stint with the New York Rangers?View attachment 435427He was signed as a free agent by the Blueshirts before the 1978-79 season, and then spent that entire regular season in the AHL with the New Haven Nighthawks, where he picked up 81 points in 70 games. After the loss of Game One of the playoffs to the Philadelphia Flyers, Coach Fred Shero promoted Sheehan to add some speed. Bobby added that speed, and some offensive production: he scored 4 goals and added 3 assists in 15 playoff games, as the Rangers made it to the Stanley Cup Final (where they were eliminated by the Habs). Sheehan's reward was a trade to the Colorado Rockies.
I remember Al Arbour playing while wearing eyeglasses! People used to wince every time he blocked a shot. Still, if he had really high-duty "unbreakable" glass, his "bad" eyes were probably safer than those of other players.View attachment 435354Rod Gilbert pursuing Al Arbour.
Helps when there's a cop standing between them![]()
