1934/35 - Lorne Chabot during his one year stint with Chicago.
1937 - Hooley Smith (# 11) facing off against Lou Trudel. Future NHL president Clarence Campbell is the referee.
1940s - Frank Brimsek with a young hockey fan.
1946/47 - A solid quartet of Canadiens blueliners, Roger Léger, Léo Lamoureux, and Hal Laycoe, with Butch Bouchard on the sled.
November 1949 - Ken Reardon (left) trying to explain things to George Grbich (right), an unemployed steelworker from Chicago. Reardon had smacked Grbich over the head with his stick.
Reardon said:
“This fan stood up on top of the boards and grabbed me around the neck while I was carrying the puck. I hit him on the head when he spun me around. I hit him accidently, but the fan had no business tackling me while I was in action.”
Grbich ended up getting several stitches in his forehead and a big patch on his head. He eventually pressed charges. Reardon and teammates Leo Gravelle and Billy Reay were charged with using their sticks as “deadly weapons.” and were briefly jailed.
