oh come on. here's a list of our forwards at the time of the deal:
Bratt
Gibbons
Hall
Johansson
Wood
Boyle
Coleman
Hischier
Zacha
Zajac
Hayes
Noesen
Palmieri
Stafford
Maroon (eventually)
15 players up for 12 spots, all of whom who have contributed more than grabner (except hayes). we could have called up JQ, hung onto our draft pick and rykov, and been relatively the same. grabner is nice to have on the PK...that's about it. that's quite a price for a couple of months of penalty killing.
honestly, were you sitting there the day before the deadline and saying 'this team can go deep...we just need to fill our glaring need at wing'?
JQ does not have Grabner's speed or any speed (Maroon is a better comparable) and does not play PK (or PP in the NHL). JQ has four career NHL points in 15 GP, zero this season in 2 GP. JQ was injured again on April 6th for the third time this season. Likely done for the season.
Johansson has contributed less than Grabner since the trade.
Stafford is 0-3-3 since the trade. Team went 1-1 when he was on the scoresheet, 5-4 overall since TDL. L @ SJ when he had two assists.
Bratt is 1-1-2 since the trade, 0-2 when he was on the scoresheet.
Gibbons is 0-3-3 since returning from injury. 2-0 when he was on the scoresheet, 9-4-1 overall.
Grabner is 2-3 5 since the trade. Team went 4-0 when he was on the scoresheet, 13-7-1 overall. GWG @ LA.
Boyle has identical stats since the trade minus the GWG.
Zacha is 2-4-6 since the trade with two assists coming in the loss against Washington in the final game.
