TWO first rounders?

Oh my god I made a mistake in saying that he had one less year remaining on his contract. Big f***ing deal.

The extra year (unless heavily retained) should be a negative for his value anyway
Again, your opinion. Seems like it’s two firsts going the other way… seems it’s not negative to his value at all. Once again bringing your opinion to exactly what it’s worth…

I'm guessing there's retention, and all this was in relation to people saying Tampa would be giving up a Howard/Geekie.

Gourde should get a late 1st plus, and a late 1st isn't much more than what Seattle gave up for Bjorkstrand in the first place. All of this lines up with what I've been saying

Tampa Bay employing the LA Rams approach of not selecting in the first round ever again.
The last impactful first rounder the Lightning have drafted was 13 years ago -Andrei Vasilevskiy. And we picked Slater Koekkoek ahead of him that year.

Since then:
- Jo Drouin
- Tony DeAngelo
- Brett Howden
- Cal Foote
- Nolan Foote
- Isaac Howard (TBD)

Yeah, I'm ok with that.

First rounders that select where Tampa and Florida are poised to select are the most overrated assets in sports

“2 1sts, what!!???”

You hope those firsts turn into a Bjorkstrand or a Gourde.

Ok so flip them for the next prime aged Hamilton, McDonagh, Muzzin, Jones, etc that becomes available. Opportunity cost exists, you don’t have to draft with those picks.

Oh yeah it wasn’t a criticism. I think more teams should follow the TB/Vegas model.
