You used the operative word: "Individuals" -- Rangers aren't a team...they are a bunch of individuals thrown together.

A little overdramatic, at the end of the day, teams are just collective individuals that all have to perform. Rangers have too many high profile ones that are not for a team some think can win a championship.

There's a question if their style of play and if they're good enough cna prevail in the postseason for the ultimate prize, that's more a question of if they're simply good enough and if personnel can play that way, more tha coaching and chemsitry.

Simple geometry.

We were good until the Washington game.

I think the Washington game might have been the first game where Lindgren was put in the top 4. Though to be fair I doubt that was the biggest reason behind it because we were so bad and Miller-Fox and the forward lines were still a thing. Probably just a game where the team thought they were too good to show up.

Sucks because Mollie still can't write grammatically correct sentences!

It was. Then our coach did what the fans were begging for and split up the “twins”. Because it’s early in the season. Time to experiment.
Let's be clear. The downfall had already begun, when those lines were mixed up. You know what the downfall coinceded with? Return of Lindgren to the lineup.

I don't want to hate Lindgren, but the data doesn't f***ing lie. We started playing shit the exact moment he was inserted back to the top-4. And started playing even shittier, when they went with Lindgren-Fox and Miller-Trouba.

I want what I want
I fell asleep after the 1st and looking at the box score assumed we didn't play "awfully"... then I looked at this thread and figured I was wrong... then I saw this WinO'Meter and think again we probably weren't THAT bad....
I honestly posted that just to have a little fun because I didn't see the game either. I generally trust Vally's data though, so it doesn't look like some of the previous games at all where they were caved in all game. Kinda find it funny that when they've won, they've played like shit so we couldn't really enjoy it and now in a game where they really didn't play like shit, they lost, and we can't enjoy it.

I swear this is gonna end up like a f***ing Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn thing. Where Mika just needed glasses the whole time.

But this is what I was talking about the team not only has to win the vast majority of their games for us to be happy. They have to tick every box. Won AND played amazing hockey. Watching hockey will be miserable if we not only can't enjoy losses where the team played well but also wins when the team played poorly.

All this talk about line combinations.....defensive pairings.....possible benchings....coaching sucks....possible injuries, xGF this - XyZ that.....I dont really care.....

All I want is for the defense to not back up to 28th street every time the puck is brought into our side of the ice. Is that too much to ask?

I'm sure it's possible on the road.

Another thing that's at least as much a symptom as it is an own cause. (particularly last night)

When your forwards turn pucks over and are then not in good position above the puck/their man, the defense simply have to back up. I don't care if it's Adam Fox and Nick Lidstrom out there, there's nothing else you can do when that happens, particularly off the rush.

I know what you are getting at and let me explain myself because I needed to be a little more nuanced. I know the game of hockey has ebbs and flows. I'm not unrealistic and for me to enjoy the game I don't need the NYR to dominate or even carry the play for the majority of the game. You're not going to see me post that "Hey they only won the game because Shesty made a couple of amazing saves" or "The other goalie let in a softie" or "They were PP merchants" etc etc. but....

When they spend over half the game getting bombarded shift after shift by the opposition, getting hemmed in their own zone, looking totally outclassed for much of the game like the last DET, the Caps, and Sens games. It's brutal to watch and there is nothing fun about it, win or lose.

More like a few ounces of Bolivian Marching Powder and a bottle of Mad Dog 20/20.
