Chytil's line works so well against everyone because Chytil is the only forward on this roster that will beat defenders wide with speed or challenge them 1 on 1 going up the middle of the ice. Then Cuylle and Kakko are demons on the boards and the puck just never leaves. It's a very well constructed line even with the individual players' limitations. I think they're a line that should get more ice time in games where we're being stifled, the way the other lines are set up it's just an automatic turnover every entry.

The decision to play Igor instead of Quick last night is baffling to me. Quick had a solid game against Detroit, and Igor has been crap lately, giving up an early goal in what feels like every game now. They should have benched Igor and let him get his shit together against San Jose tomorrow.

Also, it's so painfully obvious that Mika doesn't give a shit and just does whatever he wants out there. He's directly responsible for so many goals against with his laissez-faire play on the ice...

On a more positive note, Cuylle has really stepped it up, love what I'm seeing from him and that line. Also, good to see Kakko get a goal.

How many years does Chytil have to be better than every other C for them to act like it? Pretty sure a NYR drafted forward has to have the lifespan of a redwood oak tree to be around long enough to take a bad vets job.

*Lavi* Best I can do is shelter their minutes and eventually split them up and double shift Mika.

To be fair, that third line had got more 5v5 time than Mika for multiple games before the lines went into the blender. If Lavy decides to go back to the old lines, I would expect that to continue.

I kept thinking last night "they should be double shifting the Chhytil line". I had high hopes for Laviolette but he is just another slack jaw lacking the motivation to ruffle feathers and play the top guys less. There is a job for him at ESPN the day Drury fires him.

NHL coaches are terrified to do anything because if you do, and you don't win, you're off the carousel.

Chytil is able to take the puck up the ice. He sort of is the type of player Mika was a few years ago at this point, without the PP time. He's our actual #1 center.

Yeah obviously, what I said was that before the lines were changed, Cuylle-Chytil-Kakko did get more 5v5 ice-time than Kreider-Zibanejad-Smith. And it had been like that for multiple games. Mika even bitched about it for the media.

The reason Mika got that much icetime yesterday was the special teams and the fact that he played with Panarin and Laf. If Lavy goes back to Panarin-Tro-Laf, I would expect Mika's (and Kreider and Smith) 5v5 ice time to drop once again.

No doubt about it. That line is excellent. We used to have two excellent lines and a decent 4th line, and then zib's line.

It's time to return Trocheck to his rightful place next to Panarin and Laf and realize that Zib is a bottom 6 forward now. This absurdity has to stop.

The team was winning games before all the dumb changes to the lines. I was happy with Lavi for leaving the lines alone all year last year, but this scramble has me tearing my hair out.

I hope you are right but I doubt it. We've got another dinosaur coach. We just swept the Caps, but they are in year 2 with a young coach and way less talent than us but they are playing way better. They couldn't be happier being free of Lavi. Now they have a 2C who gets minutes and he's dominating. Guess which coach barely played him?

I'd say it was more of the same with a few better offensive chances, but with Zibanejad really stinking up the place with some brain dead plays. He wasn't invisible - he was actively terrible.
