Can't complain much about a 6-2 win. Though I will toss one thought at the PP

Last year, Nuge, McDavid, and Drai controlled the play. As the 3 of them would set up in a line from LW to RW, and then rotate/cycle to break the PK down. They utilised Barrie up top, by having him near exclusively just make quick touches, either for shots or to get the puck to the open man.
The puck also often started with Nuge on the LW, so the PK was forced to set at least one guy out to him. That thinned out the number of guys covering the slot, and gave McDavid or Barrie (whoever got a pass from Nuge) more space to opperate.

This year though, the puck is getting caught up in the triangle of Bouchard at the point and McDrai in the slot / RW half wall. All while Nuge is left on an unthreatening island on the LW side.
PKs can now basically ignore RNH, and just focus on clogging the slot.

You could swap out RNH for... Brown? (Jesus, is he really their next best shooting RHS?) to add the threat of a one-timer; but I think the best idea is to just have the unit focus on getting the play back to Nuge more often, and force the PK to spread out.

This is a very good analysis. I concur, and I'm also a little concerned about the power-play right now. Other than tonight, it's been great at home, but total ass on the road.

Bouchard is great on the PP when he's shooting pucks on net, but when he isn't, I find him less effective than Barrie. I mean this in the sense that Barrie was quicker and 'zippier' at moving the puck to the forwards. When he's not shooting, Bouchard tends to slow things down, which always makes it easier for plays to be read and broken down.

It was a great game today by the guys, but I wouldn't get too excited about it. Colorado was tired and never looked like they were even in it.

I feel bad for Rantanen, who is a great player, but that Ekholm hit was as clean and legal as they come. Even the Avs knew that. I give them some credit in that nobody really went after Ekholm or tried to force him into a pointless fight or whatever, in the third period.

Has Rantanen had concussions before? That hit didn't look that bad. I know his head hit the ice but even that didn't look especially vicious; though I guess it doesn't matter sometimes.

So someone points out your lord and savior Draisaitl had a bad game again and your response is to attack Nuge, WTF man?

Since you're talking giveaways

Game stats
Draisaitl - 4 giveaways
Hopkins - 0 giveaways

Nuge makes 5.1 per year and can play 1rst line to third line, centre, wing, PK, PP, without whining and I think he makes the least $$ per point in the top 6 other then Hyman. He is generally quite reliable defensively and thats why coaches (all coaches) put him in situations and positions that require that type of play. We should be happy to have him.
Another poster who is more concerned with being able to say I was right, my bias is right then enjoying hockey and watching the oilers it’s sad. Anyone who constantly attacks players or is negative is better off ignored

We can certainly hang with them when theyre playing a back to back when they got into town at 2am, playing without Rantanen and Landeskog.

I might be too critical but I wasnt That impressed today, they played a good game dont get me wrong but Colorado looked sluggish, and Oilers got some bounces. Georgiev was horrible.

Love that Kane got a couple of goals, I noticed how hyped up Perry was when he did, from their interactions I kind of got the feeling that Perry might have taken him under his wings a little bit.
Ever team has back to backs and win often… 6 straight have gone to ot between the two teams, come on with these takes. The oilers hang with anyone it comes down to consistency in execution . The line in the NHL BETWEEN winning a land losing is narrow

I just thought they looked tired..And had terrible goaltending..You dont agree with that? Ive seen those opinions elsewhere too, Rishaug Strudwick and Brown commented on it on the got yer back podcast, and I think even Ekholm said it in his postgame interview. Its not that crazy of an opinion lol.
I think it was pretty clear they were tired, and that the goaltending was really bad from Georgiev.

Again, Oilers played well, but they didnt have to bring their A-game really. Avs were pretty sleepy.

First thought, waking up, was Nasty Nuge cross checking that guy in the corner last night. Brought a smile to my face. Love the Nuge. That camera angle showed it like it was a beatdown in a back alley. 😂

Does anyone know the website you can use to type in team stats from a certain date? I forget which one it is now.

Like see the Oilers xGF% since Knoblauch was hired, etc

He absolutely clobbered him earlier in the game too in a similar fashion. A little Swedish Finnish violence
Ohhh... Swede on Finn action! Mmmmmmm...

He let in 2 goals on 5 shots and we didn’t even give up a scoring chance.

You could have put up a .913 tonight, that’s not a proud number in a game like tonight.

Good game oilers! Total domination
You should go, I here Demko is really good and not Russian, that will really help. Probably time to step down as GM

Yeah, when Colorado fans get PPs handed to their favorite team constantly and have a broadcast crew that leans into being Avs homers, they might be shocked when that one time they didn't receive a benefit from the refs.

If Avs fans had Singh for one game they’d lose their minds as they’re so used to being stroked all game.

Sadly that’s who we get tonight.

The AVS broadcast are almost as bad as the Bruins guy.

Has anyone heard Jack Edwards lately? Did he have a stroke or something

Landeskog hasn’t played in like two years so that’s kind of a soft excuse. Did we blame losing to them in the playoffs on not having Klefbom? Rantanen also played half the game and they were getting dominated before his injury anyway.

I also remember Aves fans bragging on reddit a few months ago about how back to backs don't affect them. They are 29-7-5 on the second half of back to backs over the last four seasons.

Apparently Landeskog slapped Ekholm around for messing with ( the Moose) Rantenen when he was a Predator and still hates him for it. According to an Avs fan on Reddit.
LMAO... That fanbase has a lot of nerve when they're still struggling with the basic rules of the game for them to comment on specifics. Empty Pepsi center when team struggles. Fairweather F ......
