Ehlers always looks like he’s gonna have a breakout year and the he doesn’t or he gets injured! A walking bandaid.

don’t like Perfetan getting gifted the 2C without earning it, sooner or later he needs to do something! Even for you this is too much. It's his first game but he is going to get hit game after game after game if he continues to play like tonight.

jets D still the weak spot Tonight it was Helle.

Outside our terrible goaltending there was a lot to like tonight. Frankly we dominated the Flames and they need every bounce available and markstrom to steal it to squeeze out a shitty 1 goal win
There was only one bad goal let in by Helly ... the 3rd one and even that was lucky. First the refs missed the high stick .then once it got inside the Jet's zone the puck hit 2 Jet sticks before it went to Andersson. It looked like .Helly was playing the pass ... he guessed wrong..
Markstrom let in the weakest goal of the night.
The only bonehead play was Schimdt's icing.

How can the d be our weak spot when we had so many more chances than flames? The Flames had 2 scoring chances all game. Three Tops. Are we expecting to have a suffocating Devils 90s defense??

Over all good game.
Lots of positives.
Not sure what we were saving the timeout for on that icing play that cost us the game????

Jets made bad plays/decisions to give up that goal but that is on the coaches.
This two days between games for the next while is tough (especially after a loss)

Can't call timeout on icing..
It was great pass back by the Flames not Schimdt's or Helly fault ... that was Kupari's man.
The bad play which cost the game was the icing ... Schimdt had time to move it out.
Over all ... I'm not upset. Jets played good ... the power play looks awesome without Wheeler.
Jets play like this they win 9 out of 10 times.

I really liked the Jets team game.

Schmidt can eat a giant bag of gopher dicks.

Morrissey was bad tn. Perfetti was invisible. Ehlers not bad for no tc.

I really liked the LA players games

lol.. at the idea of anyone eating a bag of gopher dicks..

I have so many questions about the logistics involved in accomplishing such a feat.

Lots of Schmidt bashing (warranted), Dillon wasn't much better. Edit: I swear I saw Dillon ice the puck at the end, but others are saying Schmidt... It was either one. We were stuck with both of them after the icing, and both proceeded to be completely out of position on the GWG... Not impressed with 2 veterans who should know better. I already thought last year we should never be paired up...

Couldn't Bones call a time out there?? I was yelling at the screen, maybe unfairly, I'm not sure... But our guys had already been out over a minute, and could have used a breather (and maybe figure out where they're supposed to be).

Without that icing, we're heading to OT where we tend to do well (and Calgary's historically sucked).

Some major misses by the refs - the high stick was blatant, and so were the 3 consecutive cross-checks on our last PP (I can see them ignoring the 1st 2 - that would be standard, but the 3rd was when our guy was on the ground and it was with significant force... would have been 5v3 for about 90s). "Game management" strikes again...

Thought Morrissey sharpened up as the game went on, and our forward depth is not too shabby. KFC with a billion chances again... Could have had a hattrick...

They outplayed Calgary, minus their goalie... If we consistently play that way, we'll win a lot of games... We have something to work with, just need more Defensemen that can actually pass the puck...

In many ways, I'm very encouraged by what I saw. Most importantly we made our team a lot deeper from the PLD trade. All these LA players we got back, all look good. We outshot this Flames team by a wide margin, being 2-1, and in most cases we'd have won this game. I thought Helle let in a couple he'd normally save.

The "big" area of concern is now the defence, and this can be fixed, if we acquire 2 impact defenseman. It's looking apparent that Schmidt needs to go, and is way overpaid, and the same thing for Pionk. I'd first try to get rid of Schmidt, but his contract value, may make that impossible ?? Would be a tough one for Chevy to do.

I'd like to see the Jets start Capbianco and Declan Chisholm on defence and see how they do. I do not think they'd do any worse. From what I've seen of Capo, he looks very good, with a great shot. This defence problem needs to be addressed, and right away, and not have these guys cost us games. Maybe even try that young guy we have from Sweden, playing with the Moose -- he looks pretty good. ( forgot his name ?) Salimonsen or something like that.

All in all, all teams have areas of weakness, and it's those teams that know how to execute in order to minimize their weaknesses, are the ones who will be successful. Another thing, if Ehlers is hurt again, he's truly made of glass, and a constant soap opera. He could be great, but his body can't take the rough going. The Jets may decide to trade him for a defenceman, and I'd truly hate to see Ehlers go, but if he's only playing 40 games a season, it may be the wise thing to do.

Good effort all night, really liked all our lines and haven't been able to say that for a long time. Need a little better game from Helly and Schmidt icing that puck was a huge mistake by a veteran defenseman . My question to Schmidt would be something like this

Can't fault the overall effort and performance I this one. The Flames got some favorable bounces and Schmidt made a horrendous play late. We were the better team but thats how it goes sometimes.

Helle wasn't particularly sharp.

JoMo/DeMelo: JoMo was rough in the first but settled the rest of the way and was back to being dominant the last two periods. DeMelo with his usual solid effort.

Snerg/Pionk: I thought Pionk had a nice game. Jumped in offensively at the right times and was moving the puck well. Snerg was solid but his puck management was a bit sloppy at times.

Dillion/Schmidt: Nate wasn't great and made the big mistake. Dillion was fine.

Scheifele/Conner/Vilardi: This line was humming tonight. Got some goals and they controlled play very well in the ozone. Gabe fits right in with the rotation/cycle game they play. Could have had more. Good first night.

Perfetti/Ehlers/Nino: This line looked chaotic at times in its attack (to be expected with lack of playing time) but still dominated their matchup. Perfetti looked about how I expected his first game at C. He was very focused on the D part of the job and imo did very well there. He tracked back well, he was in good position in his end, supported the play well and made good decisions with the puck. He wasn't sharp offensively but I figure we won't see him dominate there until he is fully comfortable with the d side. Nino was hit and miss. Made some great plays and had some great chances but at other times was really sloppy with the puck and turned the puck over unnecessarily. Ehlers was rusty but still made things happen out there. I'm still trying to figure out the identity of this line.

Lowry/Appelton/Iafallo: I thought they started slow but picked it up as the game went on. Nice tip by Iafallo. They look to be a good checking unit that may score some more.

Kupri/Barron/Namestnikov: They were hemmed a bit too much last night for my liking. Kupari showed some good skill and skating. Barron was fine. Thought Namestnikov wasn't making very smart decisions with the puck.

All in all a good game to build off of

Acquiring 2 impact defencemen is extremely difficult in today's NHL.

The young guy from Sweden is not playing with the Moose, he's back in Sweden for the season.

No he could not call a timeout. It is against the rules to call a timeout after an icing and has been that way for 5 years now.

3-1 xGF, chalk one up in the xW column (shhh don't look at special teams or actual goals)
WHAT DID YOU DO THINK OF HIS PERFORMANCE TONIGHT
I'm with you. Helle was not good last night. I don't care about his previous record or play that did nothing for us last night.

The top line was real good, I liiked nino and Kupari too. everyone else was kinda meh or no good. Kupari will be so much better than the plugs we had on the forth line over the years.

Any word on Ehlers. Someone posted online somewhere about it being a possible broken collarbone? Hopefully it's not that.

It kind of looked like he was refusing help on the bench. If it was a broken collarbone I can't imagine he wouldn't have known right away and wouldn't have even sat down but :dunno:
I'd be willing to bet he tweaked the thing he tried so hard not to tweak. What a shame. At least we have a couple days between games to see if it settles down
