I'll say 4-3 for Canada. Canada needs to keep it at even strength or things can get murky. This matchup also gives me 2004 gold medal game vibes, in terms of how people are generally perceiving both teams, and I don't care for that.

you are aware that Canada in general has lost to inferior opponents in the past and it's a best of one.... all it takes is us dominating the states for the entire game, USA gets a lucky bounce takes the lead and hang on for a gold... or it could be a tie game, lop sided match, but American Sniper finishes us off..... ..... and it's not like this USA has nothing, they also have their fair share of high picks 1st rounders and fire power.... this is no walk in the park..... they also have a better goalie.

Keys to the game for either side

USA:

-against Finland, the D tended to hang on to puck for a long time and didn’t always take the first easy look. They will get eaten alive tonight if this happens again
-the only time Canada has looked under pressure is when teams were able to pressure their slightly slower forwards on the wall on the breakout. Sanderson and York especially have the ability to do this
-it goes without saying that Knight needs to probably play the game of his life and needs to show why he is regarded as the best American goalie of this generation

Canada:

-Have the last change, and this needs to be taken advantage of. Though the USA bottom 6 caused issues for Finland, realistically only the sharp end of the spear (Zegras, Caufield) will cause any problems for Canada given their depth
-extended zone time: the longer the puck is in the offensive zone, the less comfortable the Americans look. Finland was able to swarm very well yesterday and most of their chances came off extended zone time chances. Forecheck must remain at level it has been all tournament
-Canada has lost 3 straight finals to the USA. Someone needs to to take the game by the scruff of the neck if things get down, as this Canadian team has yet to face any real roadblock yet

If the US is going to win this, a few things need to happen:

• Knight needs to step up his game a tad
• 2nd line needs to score at even strength

I know th 2nd line has been generating good opportunities and hit a few posts, but we’re going to need a goal or two from them to win this. They’ve done a very good job as our matchup line, but they need to breakthrough.

It hs to be a rest thing for the US. a 6PM game means a VERY fast turn around. People would complain the IIHF is favouring Canada with game times and home refs.
