LOL Good old Pierre Mcguire!!! TBH, I actually don't mind him at all. I liked the joke that backfired about liking "big sticks...." hahahahahahAh, they butcher Finnish names all the time, i sympathize....................they can be really tough names for us.
What really used to be hilarious was back in the good old Pierre Mcguire days when he with his massive ego thought he was so darn proficient with Finnish names that he had the audacity to always be saying these names with a Finnish accent.
Now that used to be both cringe worthy, annoying and wonderful comedy for the viewer rolled into one, that's tough to do!!
Only Pierre could pull that off.
I Remember long ago at the wjc Finland had this player on defense named Janne Jokila or something like that and every time he got to talk about him he would try to roll the tongue on the L sound with such over the top exaggeration. It was just priceless.
I think i have found my lost brotherI dont see Finland beating Canada. North american teams are just too much for us never done well against them when it matters the most no matter if they had a or ö team.
Kanada will be in a lot of trouble. We will feed them so much siima so that they think it will be an easy ride. Then, out of nowhere we will pull the matto alta.
Finland 4 Kanada 2

When he first started doing that gig I along with most if not all of the Canadian hockey viewing public wanted to run him. It was like nothing we had ever seen before with the over the top enthusiasm, creepy man crushes and a host of other things such as the Finnish name pronouncing that I just talked about.
But over time he kind of won you over and endeared himself to a lot of us hockey nuts, he did with me anyway, and it was just because of his goofiness that he was able to pull that off. He could entertain you in his own silly way.
I honestly miss him, many don't but I do. Ferraro is fine and I like him also but he isn't Macguire, he doesn't give you the windup.
Is he? I haven't listened to his radio stuff at all. I am going to have to check this out, a restrained and measured Pierre Macguire, who would have thought that possible? He's actually more measured and normal when he calls in to radio stations.
He'll do Ottawa, Montreal, all the major cities in Canada and he has good takes.
My favorite McGuire moment of late, actually related to this current team, was a couple of years back or so when he attempted to spell Henri Jokiharju's name. Somehow he completely fumbled with his tongue, as if he had just jumbled the syllables and was haphazardly trying to put them back together, and the end result sounded something like "Harkiyahoo".Ah, they butcher Finnish names all the time, i sympathize....................they can be really tough names for us.

Finland - the modern day Moby Dick, dick, dick for Canada!?
Oder was?!

My all time fave drummer.
They are all great, depends what style you like most of all really.Love Bonham, but I'd go Peart and Copeland ahead.![]()
Bonham was absolute gold, theres really not a lot you can say about it, he just had that touch.... and even if you Canucks not fancy John "Bonzo" Bonham (Led Zeppelin) beatin' the livin' daylight out of his drums for fifteen, rather boring, minutes or so that much ... then it will be nothing compared to when you meet Jesus ... eh, Jalonen.
And his Finland compadres. And you know it. You do.
Watching the Czechs pepper Russia right now has me thinking: How does Finland plan to generate offense today?
I will be extremely impressed if they can adapt and change their strategy to beat Canada. If they play like yesterday I don't see them scoring more than 1 (MAYBE 2 goals) against Canada with Murray. Canada should be good for at least 2, even if Finland plays tight again.
Hoping for a good game. Predicting a 1 or 2 goal differential.
