It's a fair question. He has all these highlight reels of busting down the right wing and scoring from the blue paint. That's his thing, he doesn't try to beat the goalie with a shot, it's usually a deke or a tip. His shot is NHL-minus caliber, but the other stuff is doubleplus good, so why not do that till someone stops it (like those 2 months last year).

Yeah totally. He still will score those goals but to be a consistent 30+ scorer you either have to develop your shot from range and become more of a volume shooter rather than picking spots. Or do what Crosby does and just have a preternatural ability to score around the net, and have the strength, speed, hand eye and reaction time to beat defenders to pucks around there.

I'm not sure if McDavid will develop one of the two, but I wouldn't bet against him.
