You have to admit that shots hitting the iron are extremely close to being goals. More so than most shots on goal.

They absolutely deserved to win that game cmon, Switzerland somehow managed to get to the final with a hot goalie and Finland/Canada choking. All 3 teams completely outplayed the Swiss.

I am not saying you don`t deserve to win, I just feel so bad for the swiss(or any other team) that fought so f***in hard against tough odds and battles like crazy all game and tournament long to have their ultimate fate decided this way. They earned every right to have a championship game decided on the ice battling playing hockey.................................not this bullshit.

Feel for the Swiss but it was as deserved as it gets so I don't feel that bad about winning in the shootout in that sense.

Agree. Sweden was by far the better team in this tournament, no problem to loose against this team.

Cheer up Swiss! You were really awesome. Reminded me very much of how things went for Finland before we finally got our 1st gold. We like you were 1st once very surprisingly in the final, and were not really ready then and both got stomped by Sweden.

Then a few years later you like Finland then got to the final again with a very good and well skating team. It was 1994 for Finland and we lost against Canada exactly in the penalty shootout like you now against Sweden. You will get there soon again, and I think the next time then you will have enough of experience and world class players, and you will then get the gold. Great team and great fans! Yeah, utter BS. Just a little fact: Sweden did not lead in the finals, not even for one second. Congratulations on the victory, but this wasn't exactly the 6-0 they handed the US. Sweden could have easily lost this game.

Really, a shootout in the final? That's so dumb...

It is. But since the Swiss knew their chances would be very slim in a shootout they should have pushed harder...they only started pushing when OT was almost over. Like against Canada, they got way too defensive as the game went on. It was fine for 40' but they should have been more aggressive in the 3rd and certainly in OT. Instead they were more and more defensive and when they started trying it was too little too late. Icetime distribution was also highly questionable. I wouldn't even know where to start. It's just downright dumb. Swedes better thank Fischer for this. Not saying that they wouldn't have won anyways but the Swiss coaching, if you even wanna call it like that, was questionable at least.

I am almost as disappointed as I was after Finland lost their game.. Swiss fought so hard and gave their everything to lose it in a shootout, it sucks. Sweden was the better team and they deserved, but it would've been cool to see Switzerland win.

Oh well. Slovakia next year, maybe Finns will take their 3rd gold.
