GDT: Gold medal game: Finland vs USA; Jan 5., 2025; 19:30 EST

Canadian still mad that the U.S. tried unsuccessfully to invade them twice.
they got plenty of revenge when they unofficially sided with the confederacy and then harbored Booth and the rest of the Confederate Secret Service agents in Montreal while they openly planned the Lincoln Assassination

A scintilla of professionalism? Are they cheerleaders or are they broadcasters? It’s not like Canada lost that game
You can tell a lot of Canadian media or hockey fans dont really give a shit about hockey in a true sense. Just homerism time for their fav country or team.

If you really care about the sport, you watch the good games. According to the attendance stat, the gold medal game didnt even sell out as attendance was about 16,800 while the semis Can/Cze game was over 18,000. And if the gold game truly did sell out, well not everyone showed up or scalpers couldnt even dump them to get the counter back to 18,000.

People would enjoy sports more if they expanded their viewership to other games. I might watch Leafs crash and burn during playoffs, but I'll still watch other games. Same for Raps. Nothing wrong with watching other exciting teams too. Heck, even though they are fringe team, I like watching Sacramento Kings late games because Fox is super swift and Sabonis is a beast under the boards. Who says I only have to watch Leafs and Raps games?

Canada is the only country that attempts to sell out arenas with that kind of capacity for the World Juniors.

Other countries have sell outs and the venues hold around 5,000 - 10,000 people with a few exceptions.

There were about 40,000 British North Americans that fought for The Union and much fewer for The Concederacy. Canada was Anti Slavery.

That goes for every one, every where, with any sport save for some exceptions (World Cup, Superbowl, etc.)

Some teams get clear advantages in 3 on 3 .Just look at the Oilers in the NHL as prime example.
The Jets do too but that OT was brutal.

Yup i
They were gassed in the third period. Their conditioning diminished progressively after that first period but was extremely evident at the end of the third.
It looked like they were playing for the shootout

Just to add to this (I quoted it earlier), but you can say the same about US or and other fan when Canada is playing for the gold. How do you think those US numbers would be if there was a nationally televised game between Winnipeg and Ottawa?

If anyone looks back at some of my previous posts this tournament, you'll see that my biggest issue of what people are saying about Canada (and pet peeve in life in general) is the hypocrisy.

Nothing in life is ever that simple

as many times as they went over and back it somehow didn’t seem as time waste-y as some NHL games. Still played with pretty good pace and the OT produced some great chances

Nowhere does it say that they have to be unbiased in their analysis. In fact, isn’t it in their best interest to be biased to keep the people that their advertising dollars pay for to be engaged?

They just chose to murder indigenous kids and bury them under schools.

This thread has got damn well nasty. Lot of BS from both sides.

As I said before, congrats US Juniors, great tournament.

Good luck Team USA in the 4 Nations.

I mean, are we going to pretend that if the US was hosting a final with Canada against any other team except maybe Russia, that they wouldn't be cheering against Canada? This is such a stupid thing to be bothered by.

They didn't buy tickets to cheer against USA either. You have to buy your tickets in advance before you even know who is in the finals. They were already paid for, before even Canada was knocked out.

I think most USA fans didn't turn against Canada, until 1996, when we were shocked by Canadian fans rooting for Russia against the US. Felt like being stabbed in the back seeing you root for established cheaters.

That probably started way back when Mike Richter stole the World Cup .They knew from that point it will be alot tougher from now on.
I was shocked to see Canadian fans rooting for Russia against the USA in the 1996 World Cup seeing as Russia was just 7 years from the fall of Communism in Europe and also the Russians being known cheaters. I know plenty of US fans
who rooted for Canada over the US in the 1987 Canada Cup...lol.
