Agreed. Every year it's the same thing. Take their time for the round robin, then this rushed nonsense for the final.

TV ratings, I bet. No one in Canada would be able to watch the semi if it was on friday at 915EST

2013 had Stamkos, Subban, Hall, Eric Staal, Giroux, Duchene etc. etc.
The year before that was a very good team as well. There's nothing unprecedented about this year, those teams in previous years were easily good enough to win.

1. The 2015 version of Hall is a much more mature, experienced Hall than he was in 2015.
2. Crosby.
3. Subban was good, but he was by far the best dman on a weak d-core.
4. Eric Staal is past his prime then, just as he is now. Him or Seguin? No contest.
5. The chemistry is much better on this team than it has been in a long time. The record amount of goals proves that.

7. Crosby in a Gold Medal game.

It's Meaningless, with guys like Malkin Ovechkin, Tarasenko, Kovalchuck anyone of those guys could light it up in a one game match....or god forbid Mike Smith has a bad game.

Look at Russias roster ofcourse its going to be close its basically their best on best team without Voynov, Kucherov and Kuzenetsov.

Anyone that thinks this is an easy W should start watching a new sport.

Good thing the idiotic NHL scheduled both playoff games this weekend at the exact same time as the World Championship games. I swear whoever makes the schedule might be mentally handicapped.

Canada vs Russia in Hockey is always a classic.

Russia is stacked with good players this tournament.
Canada has some great chemistry & even has Crosby.

Think it will have good ratings as well. its only game 1 for ducks/hawks. It will be a great game but I will probably start watching the Canada v Russia game as it is a classic matchup with Syd and OVi both in the lineup. If the game is lopsided I will probably switch over to the ducks v hawks game.

obviously canada has the stronger team (four strong lines and d) but bob is the better goalie and russia has some gamebreakers (malkin, ovechkin, kovalchuk, and tarasenko)... it may go either way.

... It's not even close I may not have watched a single game so far as you said the worlds is not that huge for Canadians. However 10/10 times you watch a gold medal game over a 1st game of a conference final

This is one game. The Hawks Ducks game is one of 4 games. "Cough" Ducks sweep "cough". I can pick up the NHL at game 2.

Russia will likely have to figure out how to score when a Philadelphia Flyers Centerman is on the ice 5v5 to win...

something all the other teams have not really been able to do. Couturier has not been on ice for a goal against yet and Giroux has been out for one... and those two have arguably had the toughest matchups. (generally playing vs top sixes.)
