For posters above... shootouts are not a Euro thing... they are a tournament thing when people have to clear buildings for the next game.

For instance, the Extralia had a 7 period game a few seasons ago to decide the gold. I imagine SEL etc. also don't go to to shootouts in game 7's of playoff series either.

Russia is at the moment the best international team in hockey. They seem to win every tournament at the moment. They were my favourite pre-tournament so its not a huge surprise.
