I was worried in the first. Sweden looked stronger, faster, with better sticks. That first goal killed them.

Agree with the assertion that Canada's depth is best of any country. How are Canadian injuries lesser than Sweden's?

Clearly the Swedish selectors didnt pick enough centres, arguably the most important position. Canada had 4 or 5 more if needed....

With Zetterberg having an iffy back to begin with, I thought the Swedish management team was rolling the dice not selecting more centers as well. Then again, they didn't have too many other options, at least from the NHL. What else could they have done; replace Ericsson and Hagelin with Backlund and Zibanejad? I think it was there depth at other positions that carried them this far.

I feel bad for both Scandinavian countries though. Losing Sedin, Zetterberg, Backstrom, Koivu, Barkov, etc... is heartbreaking. Lol I suppose it's great for Canada, but I always like watching best on best. It always makes for amazing/nerve racking hockey!

Thought Sweden would have played better today than they did, in any event glad to see Team Canada win the Gold, great effort all around today guys.

Jonathan Toews

Oh yeah, he's only 25 years old too.

Johnny T is an absolute legend! Great player with a fantastic attitude

I thought they played as well as could be expected without their three top centres and against maybe the most dominant defense in history. I thought they were a worthy opponent.

It seemed to me the momentum changed at the first TV timeout. as soon as Canada got a chance to adjust to the Sweeds plan of attack, they never really got a Great scoring chance

Spengler Cup is a pretty unique thing to have on a resume for such an accomplished player. Actually kinda cool. Haha

GG Sweden, happy you won silver. Wish H. Sedin was there and you had less injuries (and Backstrom); would have been a far more competitive affair.

Don't know if this was answered. Will Stamkos get a medal? I'll assume no since it's probably not team Canada that decides who gets it.

I think you have to be dressed for at least one game to get one. Mike Smith never got any playing time but was dressed as a backup for a prelin game and got one.

HAHAHAH

Anyone see Mike Babcock's post game press conference?

*holds up sheet of paper*

"anyone remember who won the scoring race, does anybody care?"

*holds up paper*

"Now, anyone remember who won gold?"

"that's what I thought, thanks, see you guys"

*gets up and leaves*

I need a video of this

Canada lost Lemieux kariya and sakic in the qf in nagano to injury. imagine those 3 who were arguably our best three scorers at the time also against the Czechs instead of zamnur, and corson.

in torino, we didn't have Crosby, staal and neidermeyer.

in sochi, we lost stamkos and Tavares. arguable more talented then what Sweden lost, but not needed as much due to our depth

so guess what, injuries happen, if your going to use them as excuses everytime, whats the use of having these tournaments. somebody is always going to be injured

I love that the two leaders give each other this look like "lets get this done" anf Benn is smart enough to walk by and let them have their "Rocky" moment. Duchene on the other hand like a big nerd gets in there and smacks Sid an says something cheesy likely. Toews and Crosby both look annoyed by Duchene's involvement in that moment

It's almost as if you were there in person!

Sorry but where in that gif do they look annoyed?

He came off as an arrogant ***** honestly. But whatever, they won so he can do whatever he wants.

Honestly I think it was because all he heard from the Canadian media & us fans, etc was why isn't anyone scoring blah blah, and he was saying look does that really even matter when we won the gold?!

Don't apologize. The two of them have been OUTRIGHT BRUTAL, all season long. The past two months, Daniel Sedin has been hot garbage and Edler seems to be getting worse, year after year.

I wouldn't say easily. I don't think any one line, out of the top nine, stood out as being head and shoulders above the rest. They all played tremendously well. IMO, Crosby was the best player in the tournament, even though his stat line wasn't stellar. He was dominant out there, especially when his team needed him the most. Toews too.

Those two guys epitomize Canadian hockey.

That is why I loved team Canada so much and dread watching the Canucks play again!!

I love luongo. He's such a good sport about everything that goes on. Seems like a very down to earth guy.

Ha that is why I love Lu! He's a great guy! Seen him out in Vancouver, walking through Yaletown & at a local restaurant with his wife & two little kids! Great guy, very down to earth, friendly & funny. Very chummy with his fellow goalies, both Schneider & now Lack!

Why is people saying Carey Price is best? Two shutouts yes but he's barely tested, not in this game or the usa game. In this game there's only one dangerous shot. This only prove numbers on papers do not tell who the best player/goalie is in real life. You can get 20 shots at you but if the shots are crap or your defense in front of you are world class it does not make you superb.

Btw, this may be the best Canada team I have ever seen in an Olympics, so I'm not particularly ashamed as a Swede. congrats to the silver boys.

Price was 99% immaculate, wasn't he? I watched the replay of the Gold Medal game and there were more than one dangerous shot. Maybe you were opening your refrigerator door at the time. In the situations he faced he could have lost once and dashed Canada's hopes despite the team in front of him. Did that escape your notice? Sorry to catch you when your venom glands are already emptied but perhaps you'll refill them and tell us how Bobrovsky and Varlamov and Halak and Rask and Lundqvist and all the others were better.
