Sportsnet last night said 4 winningest goalies all-time are Brodeur, Roy, Fleury, Luongo. All from the QMJHL. The 4 greatest drafted over 20 years. Roy in '84, Fleury in '03.

Fleury the last one, drafted 22 years ago. Since then, virtually no big name came out of the Q. How did we go from one extreme to another? It's odd! Points to dramatic change in Quebec hockey.

TQS, TVA, RDS, pretty much all Quebec media turned to bashing the Habs for not selecting Francophone talent. Hockey Quebec endorses such behavior because it took the onus off of them from having to actually invest money into player development.

As such, the development system in Quebec is antiquated (even more antiquated than Hockey Canada, which is still shit and antiquated) particularly when it comes to goaltending.

I was beating this drum for years on this board and just got bashed as a hater of Quebecois.

CHL as a whole doesn't produce goalies.

Q produces even less.

Quebec needs to look into that better, but with the new agreement between the CHL and NCAA the Q and the other CHL leagues might get more quality players which might revitalize the goaltending pool in Canada because of right now it's crap..

Hockey Québec is a corrupt organization, as well as completely behind the times. And with less people playing ice hockey, expect even less talent to come out. A shame really.

@WeThreeKings you're completely correct, the media and some of the fanbase bashing the Habs for not drafting locals and therefore being responsible for the low numbers of QC in the league is ridiculous. Habs aren't responsible for the whole dev process from a young age, also, if other teams aren't drafting more from here, it's simply because we're not producing enough talent.

Canadians are poor now and hockey is expensive, especially if you’re a goalie. That’s your answer. The talent pool isn’t what it used to be.
Quebecois are just a little more poor than some canadians like Ontario, BC and Alberta, Sask. What's happening with quebecois will be followed by canadians. The tariffs will accelerate this. And new canadians are not hockey fans. I don't blame them, anyway it's a injury dangerous and expensive sport. Soccer you only need one ballon and a pair of running shoes. And the toxic environment of the hockey coaches as well documented.
