Maybe a little bit. His AHL numbers look pretty solid though. He may be good. He was playing above his head earlier on, but almost everyone is when they have those numbers. He had Shesterkin Vezina season numbers for his first 5 or 6 games.

And on that note, Cayden Primeau has been a disaster. He's literally one of the worst goalies I've seen get that many games in the NHL over the last few years. They badly needed to purge themselves of him. His numbers since being waived and sent to the AHL are pretty good, but he's no good at the NHL level. He's already 25 years old.

I could see him being a call up for an NHL team and hitting a hot streak, but I don't see him sticking as a regular in the NHL long term.

So Dobes has been a pretty good upgrade there.

*Wraparound Alert!*

Kaliyev on Merzlikins last night.



I haven’t even finished reviewing all the games, but I promised to keep track of wraparounds after the one on Daws a few night ago from here on out to prove how uncommon they are in the league.

So that’s currently two for the week and two for the month of February. Out of however many hundred goals so far.

Spoiler alert: This won’t be softy of the night. There’s already several goalie giveaways in not even half the games done being reviewed for last night, as well as a really long, clean howler from 50-60 feet on Ullmark.

Good lord was Vitek horrible last night. Even on high danger plays he looked broken.

I skipped forward to review that one specifically after reading this.

The Sharks scored on their first 2 shots of the game in the first 3 minutes to make it 2-0. Then the Stars immediately started the beating by scoring on the first shift after the second Sharks goal.

Yeah, I nailed him for 3 of the 8. Goal 3, 5 and 7. The Benn goal that made it 8-3 was a breakaway but Vitek played it like a guy who had already given a touchdown and extra point prior. In honor of the Super Bowl I guess.

There were enough goalie giveaways last night. This goal was definitely one of a kind though. This was very Cory Schneider 2018-esque like the goal he gave up. Which was also against Vegas.

We’re gonna do a double softy of the night for the last game night for a while. And because these are both so bad.

First one is Jack Doan on Logan Thompson



This was from too far out and shouldn’t have been enough of a screen. He acted really frustrated every time he got scored on after this. I’m gonna say he wasn’t happy about allowing this one. And definitely not so early.

Brayden Point on Jakub Dobes



Looks like he just fell down. This goal got him yanked a minute into the 2nd period and they put Montembeault in there for the rest of the game who just played yesterday.
