It depends upon how you view the initial shot. The rebound goal wasn't great but that sort of thing happens and doesn't seem egregious. The real issue is that he left the big juicy rebound out for the Flyer to pounce on it. What a disappointing game.

Alright, starting tonight I am going to count the number of wraparound goals I see for the rest of the year. I have been very adamant that it’s not many. Very few. I notice a decent number of bad angle tricklers going in every week, and many times nightly. There were a couple last night, but no wraparounds besides this one.

I would also say I see more goals scored that result from a goalie turning the puck over than I do wraparound goals.

And I’m not exactly sure what the league counts as a wraparound. I’m not talking about if there’s a net mouth scramble and the goalie is taken out of the play and the puck is wrapped around him. Or if the goalie makes the first save on the wraparound, but the rebound if lifted up and over him. Or even one where it goes off the backboards and lands at a guy right at the back of the net and he puts it in.

I’m simply talking a guy going around the net and beating the goalie back to the post and putting the puck in on the first shot. And I’m also talking cleanly. Not by way of a defender/skater’s stick or skate.

One other thing I’ve noticed lately is a guy putting it in at the side of the net and the goalie is looking the wrong way and covering the other post. But that’s not a wraparound.

Now I don’t exactly remember the last one before tonight, but it definitely wasn’t any of the three nights before last. So I can safely say this one on Daws will start the clock off at 1 for the month of February so far.
