Goalies in the wrong colors

Yeah, this was the picture I thought of:

If I remember correctly, he didn't even bother to get Leafs gear made up as he knew he wasn't gonna be there for very long. And I'm glad he didn't, that Darth Gerber mask was awesome.

It looks better imo. Like football netminders.

You want scoring to go up? Forget about pad or net size - have every goalie dressed head-to-toe in neon colours and make the netting black with florescent posts. Bring the game into a new age both com·pet·i·tive·ly and aesthetically.

Wait, what!? I love the solid color pads scheme on goalies! Even Fleury and his all yellow pads
I Freaking love red pads too!
Problem is Carey's last year regular season performance was quite meh and his worst sequence was when he started playing with those new solid red CCM pads of his.
They were like a big target/shoot here!

Many think, atleast with some other colors on the pads, the target effect ain't that bad.
Like white pads, they blend in a bit more with the ice. With solid red pads I feel like it is easier to see the weakened parts of the 5 hole when players shoot.

It could also all be in our heads(pros included)!

This thread is sorely lacking Sharks Ed Belfour:
PICTURE OF BELFOUR WEARING BLACKHAWKS GEAR WHILE PLAYING FOR THE SHARKS

Hawks pants are the icing on the cake, or what I (wrongly) call the Osgood special :

Edit : I don't know the level of thruthness of this information but I heard a story about the Isles management having to "force" Ozzy to stop wearing is Red Wing gear.

Kevin Hodson playing for the Lightning in his Red Wings gear.

Not sure how truly unique this piece of trivia is, but Hodson's on ice Lightning debut came against the Red Wings with him wearing his Red Wings pads.

Tim Cheveldae is an interesting case where his old Red Wings pads don't look out of place with the Jets:

I know this is sarcasm, because it isn't really faisible

But reflective (ie mirror) pads would be doable sort of, though i have to assume the reason we haven't see any is that there are rules against those? now that would trick opponents

Not sure about goalie equipment but there IS a rule that prevents reflective visors on helmets, hence Ovechkin having to get rid of the silver visor

At first look, my reaction was "how is he mismatched? I see the Isles Helmet and pads" only to see the Bolts jersey after haha

I had a bitch of a time finding a decent picture. He only wore the mismatched gear for one game 10 years ago, so it's understandable that there aren't too many pictures easily found, and most of those I did see didn't make the sweater crest visible enough. Unfortunately (for this thread), this wasn't an Osgood case where he wore his Red Wings gear for, like, half a season with the Islanders.

Makes me wonder. What if you just put a high contrast bullseye on each pad, one that is extremely difficult to ignore. That would have to be distracting to shooters, no?

iirc the league actually stepped in and told him to at least wear navy pants.

It would never happen though.

BTW isn't Marty Brodeur the reason why Ovechkin had to change the tint on his visor? IIRC he made a big fuzz about it being unfair and such, lol.

I really like the simplicity in this and full white ones with Thomas. Even full blue wouldnt look disasterous here as long as the shade is the same than in jersey.

And a lot of the colors shown here like green and gold are perfect complements, only the red-blue and other opposite colors really hurt my eyes.

Ah in the days where pad wraps didnt exist....

If youre in modern times and you're not pad wrapping...you're just lazy.

Yeah I remember when it happened but completely forgot about it until you posted that pic. It definitely caught me off guard. I saw Roloson play for the Bolts a few times back in the day.
