So....the state of the goalie situation in Buffalo is this:

1.) Craig Anderson -- We're pretty sure he's alive. No clue about anything else. Speculation is that he's got another concussion and might be done.
2.) Dustin Tokarski -- Got the 'rona and is attempting to work his way back into game shape. He's categorized as "Week-to-week".
3.) UPL -- Something happened last night. He's week-to-week after an MRI.
4.) Malcolm Subban -- Got squished by Maroon last night and is month-to-month.

We are now employing our organizational 5 and 6 in Aaron Dell and Michael Houser.

Buffalo looks to be back in the goalie market. Yet again. What do y'all have?

Anyone want some of those sweet future considerations for a goalie that couldn't possibly be worse than Dell or Houser?

Desmith could probably be had for like a 6th or 7th honestly. But the penguins would have to set up another trade first. Still think their biggest deadline need is a backup goalie

Goalie UFA market is weak this summer. Available options vs several teams looking for upgrades in net. If you are going to get a guy you value and might trust, it's going to cost you.

The question is what are you willing to pay for it? Too many teams looking for goalie upgrades so other teams that have what you may value, the will make you pay more than you would like for it. Here is an example...

Allen for the Sabres 1st rounder (top 10 protected for one year). You won't do it. Then I wonder what else you would have that you would being willing to give? Rosen or Peterka? You can reply that Allen is not worth anymore than a 2nd but then you miss the point of supply/demand

Sabres aren't giving valuable assets for replacement level goaltending in a losing season.

The clear point of the thread is finding out which goalies may be available for lower level assets to keep the boat afloat.

Ohhhhhhhhh, we're not looking long term here. At all. We want someone that can be better than Dell and/or Houser...........who aren't NHL-level goalies. Hell, Houser is barely AHL-quality.

A guy like DeSmith or Koskinen is exactly what we're looking for. Replaceable at the end of the year.

Let the boat sink one more year. What's the worse that can happen?

No one's looking for the next Vasilevskiy here, or even an actual NHL starter, just someone marginally better-equipped to fill in during injuries than career ECHLer Michael Houser.

I see Habs fans are still, er, very optimistic about Allen's trade value

If Alex Stalock gets waived, don't claim him, he's been through enough lately.

Point went over your head when it comes to trying to find goalie improvements. I miss read the thread and you miss read the goalie market narrative I presented.

If you want to jab go ahead but it's going to derail the main point of this thread. Choose your post direction carefully. BTW, I don't speak for all Habs fans. Presenting that type of narrative towards an entire fan base is garbage on HF boards. If this is your narrative focus, you lost my respect as a poster willing to debate in good faith

They likely don’t care about tanking so Dell it is
It isn't tanking when you are down to your 6th goalie.... Sabres aren't tanking. Just stop that narrative. They have been trying to improve since the Eichel draft but have failed measurably because of depth and horrible coaching.
