My guess is that they play him to death no matter how well he plays. Last night he gave up 2 dodgy goals and posted an .880 sv % and everybody here was ecstatic. Lanky posted his first real stinker of the year and is suddenly now garbage according to the Demko cult and even Silovs won his last game with an .895 sv % (everybody here says he's garbage nonetheless). The only thing keeping Demko out of the net from here on will be grievous injury; any bad games will be blamed on the rest of the team, any wins will be simply because he started. If the Canucks are smart they will send Silovs down to Abby but I predict if they do Demko will get hurt before Artie plays a game there...
This might be the worst take of the year, regarding the goalies.

First off the first two goals are not on Demko and the third goal was on Blueger as much as it was on Demko.

Lankinen has a 902sv% which isn't terrible but it's not great and he has blown many games and constantly has given up back breakers in situations like holding a lead and in OT.
Last night was the perfect example of why us Demko culters as you call us prefer him and see him as the guy we need playing.

I find it mind blowing that some of the fanbase prefer him over Demko and while I get injuries are part of that but it stands to reason that if the original knee injury two years ago led to the popsypil (sp) which led to the following setbacks isn't a worry to happen again, then Demko can very likely put the injury bug behind him.

A healthy Demko is miles better than a healthy Lankinen and the fact is if Demko had Lankinens numbers we would be shitting all over him.

Lankinen got the love he's gotten because of how bad Silovs was to start the year and Demko was when he first came back.

Demko's last six start's his latest with six weeks off with little practice, were six of the best performances since mid November,
Lankinen was great in October and early November, I'll give him that.

How many times this season have we seen the weak turnover in overtime into a 2 on 1 against to lose the game? I (and mostly everyone) was fully expecting the game to end at that moment as we've witnessed so many times this season. Demko pulled some magic to shut the door when he needed to and that isn't something that our other goalies have really demonstrated. Lankinen has been solid but just talking about that extra clutch factor of elite players
10000% I'm sorry but Demko is our guy and Lankinen has lived off a hot start when in reality most teams have a #1 with better numbers in front of worse Dcorps.

I believe Demko will be fine going forward health wise just like I believe that we would be firmly in the top three of the Pacific if we had Demko.
Just like with EP many people have forgottenhis body of work when healthy which included a vezina calibre season before the injury last year.

Isles also one point out of a playoff spot. gonna be a playoff like game.

These injuries really piled up on us big time. No question about it. From Hronek being out earlier on, to Demko out all year, Boeser for a couple weeks, Quinn Hughes being out, just a bad year all around. I hope this team finishes strong.

Man I don't know if we are gonna make the playoffs this year but since that Calgary game I've been pretty invested. Our team is playing their hearts out and giving it 100% - and even though I wanted them to sell and regroup at the deadline as I just didn't see this year being our year I'm now fully vested in them making the playoffs.......with Demko back (*knock on wood), Petey's resurgence and the emergence of Lekk and our D I'd love to at least be able to see how we do if we make the show if not only to get our team a bit more experience.........

So for now I'm tuning in and cheering my ass off every game until we are out of it I'm not gonna give up hope......our team has earned the right for me to be invested lately.....

That is some take but there it is and you are not alone. It is true that a healthy Demko is probably a bit better than a healthy Lankinen but there will never again be a 100% healthy Demko and the writing is on the wall with the guy. That second goal last night was pathetic; he looked rooted to the spot and his rebound control remains sketchy. Even if he stays unhurt his .891 save % isn't convincing me that he's going to miraculously find a way to drag the Canucks into the playoffs and I think it more likely that he simply reinjures himself in an attempt to do so. In his prime he was terrific but those days are over, investing more time and money in him would be foohardy IMHO. Also a lot opf what's going on with the goalies is largely out of their control; an interesting stat I found is that Lankinen has played 4 games with save % less than .800 (i.e.a total blowout), Demko 3 and Silovs 2. That's a lot of blowouts. Maybe it's not just the goalies...

Yeah, certainly appreciate the effort of late. They’ve been playing some gutsy hockey, hopefully they have a bit more to offer this season.

Didn’t get any help on the scoreboard tonight, so it’s another must win tomorrow.

A good chance the Canucks are playing for feel good stories for next year.

Hughes for league MVP,
NEXT YEAR DEMKO!!!
EP40 injured just as he was coming back to form, NEXT YEAR!!!
Boeser starting to score so they HAVE to sign him to 9.5+ mil, 8 years with NMC!!

Whatever, they will play to get to OT again
A very tight game, Hughes will get 30 minutes to showcase him back east for votes.
Demko WILL be played until he can't.
Boeser will get 20 minutes and 80% of the PP time.

Very tight game or the opposite, pond hockey.
Canucks are between 12% and 15% to make the real season before today's games.

Islanders take it.

They could end up with another injury or two. Myers?

Agreed. The recent play was enough (only just) for me to impulse buy tix to tonight's game. Hopefully Canuck Nation is well represented in the stands.

Go Islanders. I'm not cheering against the Canucks. I just don't want to see Aqua get two playoff games. Plus I think they f***ed up not trading Garland and Myers at the tdl if they had good offers for them.

This Canucks team just isn't near a place to tank or contend and are loving that path far too much.

How to say you are a casual without saying you are a casual fan.............Myers has a NTC there is ZERO chance he was going anywhere.........

He doesn't need two playoff games, they already lowered the amount of money they spent on contracts over the value of 3 playoff games. If anything he makes even more because they split the revenue in the first round with the NHL.

It's pretty amazing after how much has gone wrong this season we are still in the position we are in. I think people are vastly underestimating how much our coaching staff has done this year. If Boudreau was still in place we would be a bottom 5 team had this happened......

To this day I will never understand how we had a losing record in 22-23 with EP40-JT-Bo down the middle.

Because Miller is a f***ing idiot and a shit teammate. He makes everyone around him worse despite individually producing.

Getting a locked up Marcus Pettersson at a discount plus a solid young depth defenceman in Vincent Mancini makes the trade a win for the Canucks. Even if Chytil calls it a career soon, it was addition by subtraction. Although the team is notably worse up front after dealing Miller, you can see that they're enjoying playing for each other again.

Realistically, the only way this trade turns into a loss for the Canucks is if the Rangers shit the bed next year and the Pens get a lottery pick. That would be extremely unfortunate, but it's possible.

The disastrous start with Boudreau, and the composition of the blueline really sunk us. Luke Schenn was our second best defensemen that year - good for Luke, but not good for us.

They had a core of Pettersson, Horvat, Demko, Hughes and Boeser all U26 below market value and failed to do f***ing anything. It was a masterclass in how to piss away your contention window. A complete disgrace that they couldn't even make it out of the second round with the talent they had.

Isles with a couple of tough OTL the past 2 games vs Cal and CBJ. Up in the 3rd then got tied up and lost.

Rangers still in the mix and their key advantage is their RW. Have like 31 while the other clubs in the mix are only at like 25 at most.

In the West, STL with 28, Cal with 26, Van with 25. Not just catching STL but need to do so in Regulation as well with the games in hand.
