I’m terms of record, you’re right, but I just feel like with those teams at least there was some hope that there was potential there with the core. The team is certainly better today but it feels like there isn’t much potential to improve. The things that have gone wrong don’t look easily solvable anymore. It’d be easier to see the bright side if we had a better answer with Pettersson‘s future I guess.

We had a core, but we had nothing in the way of depth.

It's really easy to ignore our own attributes and gifts.

This is true in life, and in sports.

So at that time, we were constantly running absolute drek for 75% of our bottom 6 and often like 2 thirds of our second line.

This braintrust has created Dakota Joshua and Kiefer Sherwood from nothing, good 13th forward depth in Aman from nothing.

Signed Pius Suter and Teddy Blueger for like 4 million combined.

We also, finally, have a solid D core.

Prior to the Hronek trade we basically had Hughes, Schenn, and then Myers whom everyone scapegoated. And very little else.

Again, this year is frustrating because the things we felt like we could count on (Petey, Miller, Boeser, Hughes, Demko) have all gone somewhat awry for a variety of reasons (in Hughes' case it's just how much his injury affects him moving forward this year) so I understand the psychology of it.

But we are finally a decent and relevant team again and a lot of people can't see it and are deriving no joy from it.

This has been a brutal year in many ways, I'm not saying it's been pure joy.

But I love hockey and I choose to enjoy my hobby over loathing everything and hoping for the down fall of my team.
