Post-Game Talk: [GM61] Canucks defeat Ducks | 3-2 | DeBrusk, Blueger, & Soucy | The Souce Got Loose

A bit disingenuous to say it was just a strong defensive effort. His line tilted the ice and he looked confident and decisive with the puck. Was unlucky not to end up with at least a couple points.

I agree that we need a larger sample size before we start believing again, but this was the most Pettersson-like game he's played in a year.
he's had games like this before against bad/tired teams, like against san jose before christmas. it's nice to see but we've been through this 1 or 2 good games followed by 5 stinkers countless times already.

I love that all three Petterssons were awesome in different ways and roles. Very encouraging all around. If Petey can maintain this he’ll start racking up points and get back to being the two-way force he’s shown he can be.

There’s so many people that want to acquire Zegras and I’ve been against for years. He sucks. He sucks as a hockey player and he is a piece of shit between the whistles. Don’t want him anywhere near this organization.

While I agree with you, the San Jose game is an unfair comparison since he left that game with an injury. Wasn’t any sort of chance to build off that momentum.

Kind of hum-drum affair but Canucks definitely deserved the win. Schedule working in the Canucks' favour but at least they took advantage of it. Good job from the defense of boxing out and keeping slot generally clean.

One game were Lankanin didn't have to be excellent to have a win.

Good

Hronek - times when he forced the passes some and he is far from establishing himself as the a top end PP QB but he pushed the play from the back and got the puck out of danger around his net.

Pettersson - seemed to struggle a little less with the puck and not get caught up in traffic as much. Thought he was defensively strong and got puck through neutral zone more effectively. Played a lot and was central to the play throughout. At this point, you have to celebrate other things than his offense b/c that is about all you're getting.

Blueger -scored (finally) and was again very good on the PK along with Suter

Myers - like M. Pettersson had a quiet but effective game. Defense was a strong point in this game.

Boeser - got himself open for chances and made a good pass on the first goal. Back checked well and if this is his last game (which it should be if the team has any sense) then he went out on a good note. If he does get traded it will be very interesting to see what he can do elsewhere.

Poor

Hoglander - had maybe one good shift. Otherwise looked slow and fighting the puck. Had struggles in transition (as he frequently does) and only place he looked decent was along the end boards in the Anahiem end. Once the play headed back the other way, he floundered. Seemed to be benched at times.

Others

Lankanin - rebound control was not as good as usual. Some scary moments around his net.

Lekkermaki - looking smoother. Can see how he can be dangerous. Down the road he will, I think, be a player you can't give chances to. He is lurking all the time and has sense of how to read the play and change gears when he sees a chance forming.

EP2 - solid effort. He will be d-man in this League for years to come. Might compare him to the Kraken defenseman Larsen - that seems a reasonable projection.

You hope this game will not convince managerment to somehow be buyers. Think the obvious choice (especially with nothing in the way of a back up goalie and Hughes on the shelf) is to get what you can for players like Boeser, Soucy and maybe others.

Not 11.6m good

Dude. No offence, but if I went over to the Oilers board and argued that one of your star players sucked and wasn't playing up to his contract, do you think that I would be welcomed over there? Why are you here spouting this stuff? Am I missing something?

And I believe this wasn't the first game he looked engaged. He has been doing some really interesting things lately, giving me some hope that he will recover. But I think it will take this effort and commitment to competing for the rest of the year without any more challenges being thrown his way, and then at least the offseason to get back up to speed. Over here, we have to at least hope... But yeah, 11.6 right now is hard to swallow. Now go back to what I gather is your own board please

edit: Not sure it is obvious enough that I am lumping you in as an Oilers fan on purpose

If the Canucks do end up moving on from Soucy or Forbort in the coming days, it will be the play of EP25 who will make one or both of them redundant.

I mean how can you not be seriously impressed with this kid. He closes so fast on the puck-carrier, and he's so calm and controlled in his own zone. How do you take him out of the lineup?

Lekkerimaki showed off that lethal release a couple of times tonight.....on and off his stick in the blink of an eye. Just needs to get stronger. But the skill-set is pretty special.

Two kids who make watching the Canucks more than worthwhile down the stretch.

there will be more kids coming in. suter gets dealt. sasson or raty in.

Nah the team won and blueberry boy wants 2 playoff games of revenue
Mods still haven't caught on to your shtick pretending to be a nucks fan?

God I hope your in elementary school, at least that would be better than being a grown man spending his time constantly shitting on a teams board where actual fans, gather and cheer for the team they love and calling them out when warranted but you do nothing but hate post and make rude replies like this one.

The ducks are not the sharks and quite frankly had nothing to do with the opposition, he looked like the old EP, confident and desisive. His detracters have no issue calling him out but make up excuses when he has a good game.

Personally I think a lot of people don't like the fact he's very Swedish when it comes to how he presents himself, he's not outgoing enough for some here.

One time where the GameScore card doesn't really match the eye test. Didn't expect to see Hronek at the very bottom. Thought he had a strong game

yeah when i said "bad/tired teams" the ducks fall into the tired part.

feel free to look through my post history. i have been excited before by EP40 and then seen a string of dogshit, inexcusable efforts. i want nothing more than for him to get back to his peak, but he's disappeared twice on this team and this current period is probably the most soul destroying thing i've seen as a fan. we don't lose to the oilers if he's going at 80%, this team is probably challenging for the division title without his slump, and miller is probably still on the team (i'm not excusing miller's "incident").

i am going to be the first one to be cheering if he gets back up to his standard of play, but calling his detractors xenophobic after this year of nonsense is straight up delusional. people have a right to be disappointed with him.
