I don't know. Still don't love him for the money currently, but it's good enough that it's not an absolute anchor and has room to grow into it.

I'd still like to see a firm set on the PP with Hughes and Hronek, where ideally Hronek only has to shoot.
Hronek has given us surplus value on his contract all year. Not really even in the realm of an “absolute anchor”

The Pettersson and Chytil lines had excellent games and should be kept together for the foreseeable future.

DOC and Chytil's speed on the rush really benefits Lekkerimaki's game as he seems to have a lot of space out there. If they keep playing like they did this game he's gonna start putting up goals.

Suter is an excellent defensive 3rd line center and has been a good soldier for us, but it would be beneficial to the team to move him and bring in another center that has more speed.

Boeser with a bit more jump in this one, but still too much start and stop for him. He's a complimentary scoring winger and it would be a massive mistake to pay him anything over 8m a season. He seems like a great guy and teammate, but we can't be sentimental when it comes to roster decisions, and I think it would be better for the team moving forward if they move off of him.

Pettersson with his best game in over a calendar year. I don't care that he didn't get any points, If he keeps playing like he did tonight he will start to pile up the points soon enough. Completely tilted the ice and looked so much more confident carrying the puck and making reads out there. If he can build off of this and continue to work at his game he can definitely play like a 1C again for this team. It seems to be a mental issue for him, and I really hope he's able to overcome whatever he's been dealing with and find confidence in his game again because it's fun to watch him when he plays like he did tonight.

If we do nothing at the deadline, I’m not gonna be completely furious. I’m just gonna be disappointed.

But I don’t know, I think it’s a big mistake not trading Brock at the least

Hronek is fantastic value for 7m a season. If he was a UFA he'd be getting 8.5-9m this off season with the rising cap.

Every game they win with Hughes out of the lineup is a big plus. Hard to say how many times they’ll have to do it.

Only watched the third. Glad to see Petey had a very solid game.

Also, Garland beating on Zegras was satisfying. Good job on Blueger for coming in to defend Forbort when he started to get double teamed.

D-Petey really looks like a gem. That rush in the third - man.

Lekkerimaki gets his shot off quick. Just needs to get a little quicker and stronger.

nah i've been fooled by a strong petey defensive effort with 0 points before

need to see at least 5 more of those in a row before i start believing again

He really does play his best hockey when Hughes is out. Takes control of the puck rather than deferring. Would like to see them put Myers back with Hughes, and then try Hronek with Pettersson - either one really lol.

I’d like to see Pettersson-Hronek but I think Myers is a poor fit for Hughes even if Hughes is good enough not to bring him down too much. But so many times Myers isn’t in a good position and forces Hughes to do more work. Hopefully Willander can be that guy sooner than later.

Marcus Pettersson somewhat quietly led all Canucks with 22:12 of ice time. Garland led Canuck forwards with 20:22. Lekk the low minute man with 10:10, but he looked dangerous in those few minutes.

Myers had 22:38 and M. Pettersson was at 22:18.

A bit disingenuous to say it was just a strong defensive effort. His line tilted the ice and he looked confident and decisive with the puck. Was unlucky not to end up with at least a couple points.

I agree that we need a larger sample size before we start believing again, but this was the most Pettersson-like game he's played in a year.
