I suppose it would depend on whether we hit on one of Rantanen/Marner, or even a step-below star like Ehlers, but coupled with a good Pettersson return, it would be an interesting team with a legit D core with Willander in the fold as well.

Presumably any deal would have players under contract coming back. But even then, cap space only helps if you have the assets to acquire players or there’s UFAs that are worth it. It might not be the worst thing, but it’d require a lot of work to build the forward core back

What futures? We have Willander and Lekkerimaki as major assets. Neither is bringing back a top center. Trading both Boeser and Pettersson basically forces us into a semi rebuild, which Hughes doesn't want to be apart of.
