Post-Game Talk: [GM51] Canucks lose to Stars | 3-5 | Garland, DeBrusk, & Soucy | Hughes Hurt, Season Over

In the post game interview, Hughes says he will see Miller in 7 days, insinuating he will be at the meme tournament. Management has to step in and tell him to heal and recover instead.

I am a little nervous of the direction of this team. Everything is relied on Pettersson now and I am not confident that he can take the bull by the horns.

Demko looks like a sieve.

Boeser is a downer aswell.

Considering the hell we went through for 10 years with Benning, I am scared that we are headed back into that direction.

Tochett is starting to frustrate me. Juulsen should be taken away from him, he's like a 6 year old child with a soother. Let it go man. Bad goalie pull aswell.

I don't know what to add, I am deflated. Today was a day of disappointment.

I remain irritated by the decision to start Demko.
Ridiculous decision IMHO. If it is to win games and make the playoffs it is failing utterly and only Lankinen's stellar play has kept the team in the playoff hunt. If it's to coddle him and get him back to his former glory, well, it isn't working. He is posting embarrassing numbers and has only won 4 games all year out of 14. If it's to pump up his value for a possible trade it has failed miserably; he has demonstrated conclusively that his rebound control is non existent and his basic skills have eroded severely. With his contract he is literally without value in a trade. If it's to send some kind of message to Lankinen (what would that be? That he is expendable?) it can only be convincing Lanky that his future might well be better spent elsewhere where he can prove himself to a team without an agenda that needs a good goalie. We need to move on from this guy!

I'm not sure you can read too much into this. It just sounds like they want to skirt the question with the most anodyne and neutral term they could think of. Sort of channeling, it's nothing personal, it's just business, even though everyone knows otherwise.

yeah that’s exactly what i was reacting to

it’s hilarious how both guys reverted to the cliché that is the literal opposite of what this is, which is personal.

and ok we are all underwhelmed by the return, i know i am

but you have to admit, petey looked like a totally different player tonight

he has a ways to go obviously to get back to what he’s been, but i haven’t seen him this assured in his decisions in a calendar year. getting back in a real rhythm will come i suspect.

That and his play during Miller's LOA. It's night and day and it makes you wonder how it must have been affecting him. Now watch Miller go into beast mode for NYR for the same reason

Tonight’s Game
  • Proud of the team and thought they played really well
  • That’s a good hockey team over there
  • Kept the Stars to a low amount of shots
  • Special teams decided the game but for the most part the guys played hard
Miller Trade
  • It’s a business; when you’re in the business long enough there will be things like that
  • Thought the guys handled it well
  • Miller was a big part of the team and is sure he’s emotional
  • Losing a heart and soul guy
  • For the couple of years he’s been there, they haven’t gone through long losing streaks because guys have done a good job of blocking out distractions
  • Have been inconsistent but have to give guys credit because they’ve still been able to focus; hopefully now they can focus even more
  • Need Pettersson to play and come up with some big moments for them
  • Pettersson needs to get going
  • Heard some very good things about Chytil; he’s excited to come to Vancouver; some on the Rangers said there’s a lot to work with
  • Mancini is a big, young, defenceman that can play; there’s some stuff to work there
  • Loved Miller and he played his ass off for Tocchet
  • Some things happened behind the scenes

Like with Skeletor and Moleman, my patience and faith for Tocchet has eroded, particularly the late stretches when he kept playing Noah f***ing Juulsen.

So he isn’t injured? Just sulking?
