Yep. It was a smart play by Garland. The Oilers had possession with 20 second left and the canucks were starting to run around. Even if the refs arm goes in the air the Oilers are not going to give the puck up for the whistle like they would if there was closer to a minute left (to get the 6-4). That little amount of time left puts you at the mercy of the faceoff. Lose that faceoff and no chance to tie the game (Draisatl and McDavid were under 40% combined for faceoffs in the game). So for Garland the best play is to keep McDavid from doing anything. Which he did. What Garland did was more frustrating than it was violent. Holding McDavid down and pinning him. Not throwing punches or cross-checking him while he was down.
Does Garland do that if it isn't the final 20 seconds knowing that even if he got a penalty, there is minimal time left for the Oilers to set something up? Not something he'd do in the first 58 minutes of the game.
4.6M x 5. Instead we get Desharnais, Forbort, and other junk.

My sources say its a 50/50 chance, either it happens or it doesn'tNo updates from Dhali... Said trade might happen today or the deadline... Thanks Rick lol
$4.6 mill x 5 is fair, but he was a UFA, so that always bumps it up into the uncomfortable range. Same with the Joshua contract. Didn't love $3.25 mill aav but he was going to get that kind of money as a UFA.This is the part I don't understand. They played hardball with no longterm plan if Zadorov called their bluff.
4.6Mx5 is a reasonable contract for him. Now I'd be fine with it if they had other options, but it really feels like they didn't and just thought "Eh, maybe we can find more Soucys."
We've seen how well that worked out, especially Soucy being considered a long term fixture.

yep might as well get rid of the F in UFA...you pay a term and AAV tax$4.6 mill x 5 is fair, but he was a UFA, so that always bumps it up into the uncomfortable range. Same with the Joshua contract. Didn't love $3.25 mill aav but he was going to get that kind of money as a UFA.
Not easy to always find hits in free agency. That's the reality of the NHL.
Wish i was tech savvy and bored enough to stitch together the last 10 Dreger and Friedman interviews on Miller/Pettersson.He and the other insiders are about as good as a Magic 8 Ball right about now.

Personally don't mind Friedman. Just keep it simple and let Hughes do his thing.Interesting Pettersson has been elevated to Miller's usual spot ... I don't hate that second line though. The fact we're playing Friedman with Hughes is freaking gross.
People dining at the restaurant...Ordinary joes? You mean the other millionaires?
It's understandable since you don't live here and probably haven't been to a downtown fine dining place lately, but much of the crowd at these restaurants are definitely not ordinary joes.People dining at the restaurant...
