GDT: [GM42] Vancouver Canucks @ Toronto Maple Leafs | Sat. Jan 11th | 4:00pm PST | CBC/HNIC | Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground

I'll be making the drive down from Orillia for the game as I do almost every Canucks visit. Feeling pessimistic about their chances but looking forward to catching up with an old friend at the game, having a nice dinner before the game and watching Quinn Hughes. The high-water mark of my attendances at these games was watching Mats Sundin score in the shoot out to secure a Canucks victory over his old team. Good times...

I assume we made it out of Raleigh?

Leafs look good this year. I really like their third line with McMann.

I hope they go easy on us as we continue to relearn the game of hockey.

Awesome! Have fun homie!

I think the Canucks were all in yesterday.
Hughes played I think over 30 minutes.
Everything is against the Canucks.
A scheduled win for TO.
Flying in just hours ahead of the game.
Losing streak, only two win in the last eleven games.
And the sleepless night, go to air port, sit for awhile then back to a hotel

With everything against them they probably win the game.

Still it should be an easy win for TO.

I expect there will be lots of face washing and post whistle scrums.
The Canucks HAVE to try to get the game to a special teams decision, they will not be able to out skate TO 5 on 5 all three periods so they have to go full dirty mode.
Unless Reeves plays they will take the game down to a behind the barn duke out.
With a tired team the Canucks will take hooking and other stick violations penalties

I predict a blowout in Toronto’s favour in this one. When Hronek is back the team will be considered “fully healthy” but I don’t have faith in this d core and system at all sorry.

Poor Lankinen, he is going to face so many shots tonight. Marner and Matthews are going to atone for their -6 last game and take it out on us. It will probably be 7-1 Leafs, they will have almost as many goals as we have shots.

GG 2024-25 season.

As I see it, the main problem with the Canucks are their character. They should be going out on the ice every night with the ‘f*** you, we’re Better than you’ on every shift.

They’re doing the opposite of that right now. Granted this is an absolutely horrid stretch of games that the NHL scheduler should be fired for. I wasn’t expecting a winning record during this stretch but they’re practically DOA right now/

This is a coaching issue more than X’s and O’s.

Canucks arrived in TO basically three hours before this afternoon's game.

Obviously no time for pre-game strategy....but maybe this is a good thing?

24/25
GF/G = 20th

23/24
GF/G = 6th

Start scoring some goals! Hopefully the offence starts rolling soon
