The offense drying up was predictable, we had an unsustainably high shooting % to start the season. This team’s identity last year was to win low scoring games consistently.

If we can keep the opposition down to 1-2 goals against, I think we should have no trouble scoring 3 or 4 most nights. My biggest concern is giving up the first goal of the game all the time.
Not concerned at all. It's hockey, got to be able to do both(come from behind or score first). It's quite impressive how many times they have won games on the road not scoring first. The team has a better winning % allowing the first goal. Maybe it's more of a concern in the playoffs where goals are harder to come by, but they have another 45 games left to get better at scoring first.

That’s the whole point. We’re midway through the season now, if this truly becomes a habit, it could be very difficult to get out of it even with 45 games left.

It's a looooong season. There will be ebbs and flows. As important as it is to make adjustments, it's equally important to not overreact. Too soon to start worrying about this.

There might be a negative with the Caps allowing the first goal too many times, but they have quite the resolve that MOST teams have not been able to get multi-goal leads on the Caps in that regard.

This reminds me a lot of the 2016 season, when we were waiting for them to “flip the switch” each time they were falling behind in games. As it turned out, we couldn’t overcome these early game deficits once we faced an opponent of similar strength in the playoffs.

I could hardly disagree more. This team has played fantastic, balanced, responsible hockey all season with a few blips here and there. The switch has been flipped from day one. For now, this is a lull, nothing more.

Yeah, and the 2016 team was awesome too. Anyway, I’ve made my point, I understand yours but I just see cause for future concern.

Pay that man his money.

It’s almost Jan 1, when new contracts can get signed.

Hopefully we see a slew of them from the Caps (JC6, LT48, CL79, ND26…. In that order) sooner than later

Correct. Get cracking GMCP.
I’m pretty sure they cannot resign him until 2025. NHL rules and all

I could easily be wrong

WSH at #1 in East heading into 2025 is a nice and unexpected place to be :)

playing pretty mid for L10 is a bit concerning, whether it's just normal ups/downs of RS or whether teams have seen a bigger sample size of Carbs hockey and how to play against it, whether teams now getting up for a top team or what, it ain't gonna be an easy ride to the Playoffs (even with an easier SOSchedule for last half of RS)

The fact that Carbs has got the team answering losses with W's is a great indicator of a solid team

BOS gdt is a pretty 'entertaining' scroll

Completely obsessed with the goons that are Willy and OV
Did you know Willy deliberately cut Zadorov with his skate and little Mangiapane pinning Carlo down has made him Enemy #1, lol
other than that, the standard victimhood of all calls/non-calls and general hivemind

I think "more exposure to Carbs hockey" and "up for a top team" are huge factors. I'm delighted that none of our guys got picked for the 4 Nations. Extra rest. More time to make adjustments.
