I haven’t exactly been following closely lately - Can anyone prove to me that the Miller/Petey stuff isn’t completely made up? I mean these are professionals getting paid millions to play a game that we’re talking about, it doesn’t make sense they’d be as petulant as the media is claiming.

Anyways, please beat Ottawa. Ullmark is on a hot streak so the big guns on this team will need to perform as such.
THIS IS NOT MADE UP. STOP SAYING IT'S MADE UP. TO ALL THE PEOPLE OUT THERE SAYING IT'S MADE UP, THAT THE MEDIA CREATED THIS, STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING RIGHT NOW.

Idk about those line combinations...kinda gross.

Atleast the PP stupidity is seemingly over.

Lankinen start is odd..

I don’t think its made up, but I don't think it's as far as the civil war that the media always tries to portray these things as. Exaggerated would be the right word.

Tonight’s Game
  • Feeling good and excited to play on a Saturday night
  • 2 games before the break and everyone is excited for that
Slow Starts
  • Even though everyone is a professional, won’t be able to bring full energy 82 times a year but trying to go into every game bringing your best
Miller & Pettersson Rift
  • A lot of learning for everyone on the team
  • Everyone knows about the reports
  • There are times where he’s upset with Miller or Pettersson or Hronek but that doesn’t mean they don’t love each other
  • Everyone is going to make a bad play
  • Over 6 years as teammates, these bumps are normal and will happen
  • His job as a leader is to continue to keep everyone “on the yellow brick road”
  • Short-term goal is to have a good game tonight
  • Long-term is being a successful team and make the playoffs
  • 100% he believes “it’s workable” and knows “it’s workable”; saw it last season
  • Thinks both Pettersson & Miller have been going through their own struggles this season; loves both of them and says they are great players & people
  • The locker room is a family and need to continue to push forward
  • If there’s a positive, both Petterson & Miller would say they haven’t played their best hockey and are still doing well in the standings
Games Before the Break
  • Continue to compete as hard as they can
  • Bring your best each night and act like a professional
  • Play for each other then go enjoy family and a rest afterwards

Previous Games
  • Thought they had a good effort against Vegas but there were a few moments they wish they had back
  • Beating Florida and Colorado gives them confidence
  • The inconsistency to their game is something they don’t like; recognize it and are working through it
What Can a Coach Do When Teammates Don’t Get Along
  • Immediately asks the media why they didn’t request to talk to Pettersson & Miller today
  • It’s all about the crest on the front of the jersey and not the name on the back
  • Going to have arguments and fights
  • Has had a long and successful career but there has always been something that galvanized a team
  • Bickering & complaining happens all the time
  • It’s his job to make sure players have a voice and they move on
  • Need to be mature; don’t need to hang out off the ice but need play for each other on the ice
  • Miller just got back
  • If you’re struggling, make sure your other parts of your game get going
  • Sometimes you want to score so bad you forget to do everything else
  • Have been pockets of the top forwards playing well and pockets where they are struggling
Powerplay
  • Didn’t want to overload Miller after just getting back from a month off
  • Not a big deal to split people up sometimes
  • For them to be successful, need both Miller & Pettersson to drive the play
Travis Green
  • Talks to him all the time
  • Always fun to coach against him
  • Is a really good coach that has a good young team; they were craving direction
Tonight’s Game
  • Would like them to play the same way they did against Vegas but generate more chances in the 2nd half
  • Can still hold the fort
  • Need big moments and needs more of that
  • Lots of good stories here; Lankinen, Sherwood, and Blueger are
  • mentioned
Forbort
  • Loves the guy; very calming influence
  • Still trying to get his legs
  • Hopefully can get some traction and get some games
Line-Up
  • Lankinen starting
  • Same line-up as against Vegas
  • The rotation of players right now is not bad
Hoglander
  • Had a long chat with Hoglander at practice
  • Is trying to find his identity again
  • Hoglander doesn’t like the way he is playing
  • Hoglander Regrets that he didn’t take advantage of the early season opportunity
  • Is fighting the puck
  • Needs to get Hoglander relaxed
  • If he makes a mistake, needs to get out there again; on coaching to make sure that happens
  • Needs to make sure he doesn’t make an egregious mistake at a keytime
  • Is a good player and they are not giving up on him
