I think the thing that sticks out with him, and we saw it on his first career point in Pitt, is that he's a fast skater but he doesn't really look scrambly when he has the puck; he has the poise to "hold onto pucks" and make a play.

Tocchet has pointed this out a couple of times too. He’s fast, strong forechecker, and is getting more confident at holding onto the puck and making a play.

Biggest thing was that both Miller and Pettersson were very good tonight. This is the first game since the first half of last season where both were above-average while playing C on different lines, and the team is just totally different when that's the case. If both those guys are going and playing to their potential, we're a Cup contender. If they aren't, we aren't.

Was thinking the same thing. That 1-2 punch at center, with Hughes on the back end and Demko in goal is ridiculous. And Hughes can play a lot better than he did tonight.

Desharnais' best game this season by a mile. Played like he had nothing to lose, was much more assertive and used his size effectively. Still very limited with the puck and ideally not a guy we should have in our top-6 going into the playoffs, but if he plays like this he can be a decent option for now. When he plays timid and passive like he has for most of the season, he's just completely ineffective.

Also one of Myers' best games of the season, when he plays like this it makes a big difference.

Joshua looked a bit more like himself, still a ways to go but maybe he can start to build some momentum.

I thought Suter had one of one of his weaker games of the season and Blueger uncharacteristically had a rough night. Brannstrom not great either.

I think a big part of the issue is that Tocchet hockey requires an incredible amount of energy. The Canaucks had the will and energy against teams like Florida and Colorado tonight.

But against Boston, they were just flat....and couldn't find that extra 5-10 percent effort.

I've thought this as well and I wonder if we just lack the size up front to realistically play that way. Besides the obvious problems we had in last year's playoffs, one of the things that stood out to me was how absolutely gassed the team started to look.

Pleasantly surprised. In Mexico, so I couldn’t watch this game and called it quits when it was 00 near the end of the first period I must’ve missed the Canucks scoring first by a couple of minutes. Nice to have the win. But it sure would be great to string 3 or four wins together.

Edit - headed home today after two weeks in Mexico, haven’t been able to watch a game in that time. We will be home Wednesday morning and as I have been saying all year long one game doesn’t change how they are playing keep an even keel, and hope these guys play to their potential for a while

According to money puck, Canucks best player for 5v5 "high danger shot attempts per 60" is Arshdeep Bains and he's 154th. Boeser at 166th. Debrusk 215th. Heinen 233rd.

Raty and Joshua are 446 and 447 out of 455.

The Canucks are generating pretty much nothing 5v5.

ChatGPT gave me like three different answers. So I'm not sure, but a lot of changes were indeed made coming out of the lockout. What seems to be the case is that the rule I'm talking about was first put in for the 1990-91 season (this was the last one before the curved blue crease).
