the problem is it's a trickle down effect from the thin back end. You're not going to find consistency in non-Hughes minutes because everyone is playing way over their head. The team can be good. It can also be horrid. The key is finding consistency. We have beat the Panthers and Avalanche in a week. We also have lost to Boston etc.
You have to keep him just gassed enough that he thinks he cant take a run for the hit and get back in timeJuulsen is better the more he plays for long stretches. Same as last year.
I think a big part of the issue is that Tocchet hockey requires an incredible amount of energy. The Canaucks had the will and energy against teams like Florida and Colorado tonight.Weird series of games. Convincing wins over Florida and Colorado, awful loss to Boston sandwiched in the middle. This is also probably why you don't overreact after one bad loss.
Biggest thing was that both Miller and Pettersson were very good tonight. This is the first game since the first half of last season where both were above-average while playing C on different lines, and the team is just totally different when that's the case. If both those guys are going and playing to their potential, we're a Cup contender. If they aren't, we aren't.
Sherwood is ridiculous. Good game for all the foot soldiers - Heinen, Suter, Blueger were all winning battles and gumming up what Colorado was trying to do.
Desharnais had maybe his best game of the season, at a good time where scouts were probably watching him closely.
Hughes wasn't terrible but had an awkward night against Colorado as usual.
Myers and Soucy were both very good. Juulsen continues to play well.
A real shame they didn't get the SO for Demko but this game has to be a huge confidence builder for him.
Probably when the crease ends got chopped offI have no idea. It feels like it was a thing more recently than that. I still expect it to be waived off every time and then I'm like 'oh yeah' when it's not.
Assuming the flu hit more than just the guys sitting out, it makes some sense. People weirdly act like having a virus is no big deal for professional athletes. If it's a true flu, I can't perform my damn office job, let alone do something physical.Weird series of games. Got to wonder how much the illness that had been working its way through the lineup played a part in the Boston game...Weird series of games. Convincing wins over Florida and Colorado, awful loss to Boston sandwiched in the middle. This is also probably why you don't overreact after one bad loss.

The defense is awful outside of Hughes/Hronek, and whichever of the rest of the dmen decides to take their turn in the rotation of temporarily being slightly better than a bottom pairing player. The team can be good. Another thing, JT is doing a after hours interview on sportsnet and he is in great spirits. Looks like he is back to his old self. He was quite stoked with the way his team played and I don't blame him. That was a awesome effort tonight.

I think somebody posted that Hughes sounded like he was under the weather, based on a pre-game interview. Maybe he's also recovering from the flu.Makar and Hughes were both average tonight. Sucks that Makar gets a 2nd assist on a garbage time goal but he may have been better than Quinn tonight overall, outside of KS outskating him
That's what a random reddit thread says, but it's a bit odd for those things to be linked – the ends were chopped off to shrink the crease to avoid too many goals being waved off. Really the crease shape doesn't matter if it's no longer going to affect icing anyway.Probably when the crease ends got chopped off

Oh! Good. Hughes is still 3 points back then (with 3 games in hand).Hughes got an assist on the empty net
I'm going to go against the grain and say we win this one. Predictably unpredictable.
Trotz should probably just resign before he makes any further moves to ruin the Preds. His awful moves over the last six months rivals any similar period of Benning’s reign of error and that’s to top.
Think the boys took Pepto after last game.
I don’t think it was the flu. Seems like they had the runs.
wait why am i gettin slack?Gotta give the geebster some slack. Its WTG doing drivebys in his fruity euro racecars shouting the s word
