They LOVE Friedman but he's at the bottom of the depth-chart of the Forbort/Juulsen/Desharnais/Brannstrom group. Not going to carry 9 defencemen with Forbort ready to be activated.

Damn these guys are all depth defense options...if only we can field an actual top 4...ugh.

Forbort
  • Strong possibility tomorrow
  • Will talk to him today and again after tomorrow morning’s skate
  • Brings overall team stability
  • Too many breakaways and 2-on-1s last game; can help some of that up
Miller
  • Getting close but doesn’t know the exact date
  • Doing really well
  • Doesn’t know about tomorrow
  • Will talk to Miller tonight and maybe tomorrow morning
  • Tomorrow is a possibility
  • Had a good day
Adversity
  • The team has been hit with a lot of stuff
  • Thinks that sometimes it’s a good thing; builds scar tissue, character, and fight
  • Need better processing, team identity, and game management
  • Has really struggled with players being on the ice after 30-40 seconds and then making a high-risk play when the other team’s top forward is on
  • The team is coming back in games but needs to clean up their starts
Team Focus
  • Collectively need to focus
  • Certain guys on the team “have more rope” because they can make plays
Players Playing More Minutes
  • Some guys are being given expanded roles and playing more
  • A bad line change can happen when you’re tired
Maintenance Days
  • Myers had a maintenance day because he’s been playing a lot
  • Hughes could have had a maintenance day but wanted to skate
  • When guys are playing heavy minutes, you ask them what they would like to do to be ready for the next game
Coaching a Full Line-Up
  • premise of the question seems to exclude Hronek
  • It’s exciting
  • 4 centremen gives you options and better match-ups
  • Not as top-heavy
  • Might have some wingers rotate spots
Powerplay
  • Likes Miller with Pettersson on the left side
  • Told Pettersson he loved the puck that he threw the puck at the net last night
  • Deferring too much
  • When Miller comes back, need to have the same mentality
Taking Advantage
  • When an opponent breaks their stick, you need to pick on that player
Difference Between Injuries and Forbort/Miller’s Absences
  • Communication and the relationship you have with the player before something happens really helps
  • Not always about Xs & Os of hockey but about life
  • Need to build relationships with your players
  • When someone is dealing with something, you need to help them out
  • Canucks’ support group, names coaches, Allvin, & Rutherford, are really good

Trust is like a house of cards.

After you pour lighter fluid on it and set a match to it, you can try to knock it down, but what's the point when all there is, is ash?

Sorry @Vector, them's just facts, framed as a retorhikal* question

*I know, I know, it's spelled retorikhal. Suck it, spelling nazis

Quinn given his minutes probably needs to take more maintenance days. But kind of hard as the captain to not be out there. See how he holds up as the season goes on.

Not to mention, I think he does owe the fanbase something. No specific details or anything but just an acknowledgement why he felt it was necessary even if it amounts to a simple "I've been dealing with personal demons that I'd rather not talk about."

If nothing else, it will at least settle down all the rumour nonsense. Acting like nothing happened or it's one big secret just fuels that fire.
He owes the fan base absolutely nothing. It is no one’s business the exact reason why. The fan base in particular should be more than satisfied by what has already been said.

Miller's return to the lineup, if it comes tomorrow, would be a huge boost. With Demko standing tall and Miller back......we're finally starting to see a team like last year's Canucks.

What a difference the past 2 years. Expecting to lose and losing. Expecting to lose and winning.

Now expecting to win and losing.

Now expecting to win and _______.

He owes them nothing about his personal life or problems. Zip. Zero. Not ya.
Yeah, I don't understand how some people feel entitled to access into athletes personal, private lives...I don't care how long you've been a STH or how much money you've spent on the team, you're still just a fan and aren't entitled to things that aren't your business.
