You should be concerned if the upcoming highest paid player on your team goes cold
For a quarter of the season.
I honestly don't think he's been "cold" the rest of the season.

I thought he looked pretty good the first half of this season. Maybe not up to his standard last year, but not as bad as these last few stretches imo.

Even star players have bad stretches, it's not something exclusive to Petey.

I know your whole shtick is being incredibly negative but this just stupid. It's statistically impossible for Edmonton to pass us that fast even if we lost every single game.

They're 14 points back with only two games in hand; 12 if we lose and they win against Vegas.

We'd need to drop our next six games, going on a seven game collapse while Edmonton suddenly strings together an eight game winning streak.

In other words, this take is laughably absurd.

Or it was hyperbole that you didn’t get.

One of those things.

He hasn't played to his ability pretty much the entire season. He's been able to put up points, sure, but there's clearly something off about his game.

When he's playing how he can, he is dominant and always noticeable on the ice.

When’s his last 5 on 5 goal?

When Hughes-Hronek play together you can control 50% of the game - especially at home - and then work out the rest.

When you have Juulsen on one pairing, McWard on another, and Myers on another you are controlling 0% of the game and you’re allowing a bad Ducks team to have a field day.

I'm surprised there are people who think Pettersson is just slumping rather than being injured.

It's possible that both are factors, but in my eyes there's no way he's fully healthy because he looks pretty bad out there.

So my frustration with the situation is why he isn't being removed from the lineup to recover.

If they had let him rest 3 weeks ago when it was clear that he was off his game, he'd be back in the lineup right now, lighting it up, very similar to what we're seeing from Jack Hughes ever since he returned from injury.

And Pettersson himself should probably ask for some time off to recover because he's tanking his own contract with this play.

Yeah, a slump doesn't make you skate like that.

Petey needs a goal.

Kuz needs a goal.

DG needs a goal.

Hughes needs a goal.

McWard needs a goal.

Everyone needs a goal to boost their confidence!

Also, Sat is on to something. If you play better and score more and make fewer mistakes then your opposition, you'll win more games.

Ducks are playing harder and faster than we are. Canucks forwards cant even turn towards the middle without getting displaced meanwhile the Ducks are getting plenty of space to do it and have missed numerous chances to put us down by a goal or 2
