It's a shibboleth on these boards.

His idiocy created this false consensus on these boards. When he left, a lot of pretty unsophisticated takes came out and there were some splits that I think were unnerving for people. So every once in awhile we get to read the mantra 'Benning is bad' as people remind themselves that they are part of the in-group and not a detested member of the 'out-group' who follows their sport in the 'wrong' way.

For the record, I'm incredibly glad that Benning is gone. I'm also glad that I broke up with my first girlfriend when I was twenty. Neither are particularly relevant or interesting for strangers to read about, but here we are.

More or less accurate. I don't think there's anything really left to be said of his tenure that can't be summed just by bringing his name up. If someone would like to write a book about it, go ahead, but until they do, not really worth discussing because it's just the same cycle of "yeah that sucked, but did it suck as much or worse than this thing?"

I disagree, however, I find all of it fascinating. Just perhaps not discussion-worthy but do you see what's on X? I'll take this groundhog day of a discussion over that intellectual sink any day.

Well I can definitely say I like the Debrusk and Heinen signings. I did at the time and still do. Heinen isn't a guy you are going to always notice but he constantly does the little things a coach loves.

Debrusk is streaky but he kept working and finding his way in Tocchet's system. Now it's paying off.

EP with 16 pts his last 11 games. And still looking like he has ample room for improvement in his overall game.
