Team is garbage right now.

Some is on the players.

Some is on the coaching staff.

Some is on mgmt.

Also, WTF is with the fascination with Juulsen? He’s absolute garbage at the NHL level and should never hit the ice again unless you have zero defensemen or want to tank.

The Myers extension has a chance to be Allvin's worst signing yet. Two years I could see, maybe.....but that third year is 'buy-out territory' for sure.

I think people are romaticizing Soucys play last year. First 20 games he was good. Coming back from injury his first 10 were okay given the long break. Coming down the stretch the last 10 and the first round he struggled, and was great in the second round. This year he had the odd good game but has not been good overall. I think you could make the argument he has played more bad games than good games in 55 regular season games as a Canuck.

i do think tocchet coaches an outdated system that overvalues possession and undervalues effective chances but i don't think there's any system this roster can really succeed at. they aren't fast enough or big enough to generate enough offense off a forecheck, they don't have the dynamic puck carriers to advance the puck in the neutral zone and their defenders can't make a fast break pass. it's mostly just a bunch of tall defenders and forwards who are good "wall guys"
I think doubling down on Tocchet type players will be a mistake from management. Moving on from skilled players, even guys like Sprong, who didn’t really look like a defensive detriment beyond a few early season miscues and brought a ton of speed and skill to the bottom six.

Big useless types like Desharnais, Forbort that have no transition offense to speak of.

This is the new NHL. Speed and talent is how the league is modelling itself after. Allvin should know better if this is his build. The Penguins won those cups off the backs of speed and puck moving ability, even if the names weren’t the most flashy. You had 3rd and 4th liners that could skate like the wind. You had D first guys like Dumoulin that could move the puck up quick.
