Having Joshua and Hoglander, then Sherwood and Blueger on different lines is going to drive teams crazy and wear them down. I can’t wait.
The rumor at the time was that the best the Canucks could do was a shorter term extension at $6.5m a season. He got seven years and $8.5m from the Islanders.
Frankly, Canuck fans who criticize Horvat for not swallowing a home-town discount to stay in Vancouver are out to lunch. You can't walk away from $2m a season. That's $14m over the life of his contract.
At the end of the day, that's why players hire agents. And no agent in his right mind would have recommended that Horvat accept such kick in the wallet to stay in Vancouver.
When the Canucks signed Miller for $8m a season, and knew they'd have to cough up at least $11m plus for Pettersson, the writing was on the wall. Horvat was a great Canuck...period, end of story.
The negative fan reaction to Bains is still the weirdest shit I've seen from this fanbase since it universally backed overpaid American underperformer Keith Ballard over the younger, cheaper, Western Canadian kid in Aaron Rome who was blatantly outperforming him.

Someone in the last GDT called him Tocchet’s DEI player or something weird like that. Can’t tell if that was a “joke” or not.I don't think it's the case on this forum but reading seem comments online I am NOT surprised at why a certain population of the fanbase hates him.
I think if Lekk can show he can stick then it makes it even more of a foregone conclusion that Hoglander is moved.Debrusk - Petey - Boeser
Suter - Miller - Lekk
Joshua - Suter - Garland
Heinen - Bluegar - Sherwood
Hog
Lekk will most likely be sent down when Boeser comes back but if Lekk starts scoring goals, I wouldn't be surprised if they keep Lekk around and I wonder if they will slide Boeser up/down/left/right to play with Petey.
He's not that good. But Aman and PDG also aren't very good. The other two had plenty of runway to show they belong in the NHL. Bains is getting his turn and he is getting better.i just don't think he's very good. i'd rather see aman or pdg in that lineup spot or even lekkerimaki now that boeser is out
i do think it's weird that bains is picked on when raty gets a pass though. raty has been total junk in his nhl stints imo

So happy to see Joshua drawing into the lineup.
Theres this weird obsession on Twitter by a group of Rangers fans spearheaded by some guy who records in his car who posts “criticism” of K’Andre Miller and it’s usually the most frivolous things they can find and he literally only targets Miller. That someone got dinged twice and will get dinged again every time they kept it up.
On twitter, someone quoted one of my tweets about K'Andre Miller and said the Rangers would take on Bains because of DEI. Just the most brain dead scum.

To me Bains looks like a perfectly normal young player playing in his first 15 or so NHL games. I don't know if people just expect rookies to hit the ground running as + contributors or what.
When you're dealing with guys who are going to be depth players, you're always going to be taking a hit when you invest icetime in them as rookies. Bains looks night-and-day better than he did last year and looks like a totally competent bottom-6 guy at this point.
He has a lot more skill and upside to be a middle-6 type guy than PDG/Aman and that's why they're investing in him, even if his defensive game isn't quite at the same level at this point with his lesser experience.

he's not playing in the bottom 6 though. he's been lining up will miller and pettersson mostly. if he were lined up with aman and heinen and sherwood like raty has mostly been i doubt you'd hear the same complaints
He's played 4-5 games, out of a total of 16, in the top-6 and every one of those games he got switched lower in the line-up if the game was close.

i haven't been able to watch every game this season but per evolving hockey he's played 46 minutes of 72 with either pettersson or miller
Hoglander was an obvious trade trip when they signed him to that extension. Added some cost certainty to him.Them choosing to call-up Lekkerimaki rather than promote Hoglander, reduce his ice time, and remove him from PP2 is the same treatment that Kuzmenko and Sprong got.
