Really clean game by Lekkerimaki. Besides some minor adjustments it's clear he reads the game at an NHL level and pace, which is great considering our dirth of effective recent first rounders beyond EP, Quinn and Brock. Only one game but if he maintains consistency he'll definitely stick around.

Nice to have a Norris level defenceman and a Brannchise defenceman on the same team tonight.

If anyone had a bad game it's probably Hoglander whose presence is fading in Tocchet's eyes for both 5v5 and PP (behind Sherwood and Bains).

Also Petey's back.
Hoglander is trade bait as soon as they can bring In another defenceman.

And congrats to Brannstrom for his first as a Canuck. Guy has been such a fantastic addition to this team. We got him for the corpse of Tucker Poolman.
I love, love, love those specific reclamation projects where the guy comes in with very little fanfare or as an afterthought, and ends up becoming a valuable contributor. It absolutely tugs at my heartstrings, and it's why three of my favorite Canucks all-time are Cliff Ronning, Martin Gélinas and Markus Näslund. So I've been rooting for Brännström from day one just for the story.

Canucks were rather fortunate to catch a dog-tired Calgary team, who had a strong first period but really cratered early in the second.

This Canuck blueline is an adventure. Their panic threshold is just so low. Too many times they just seem to panic and throw the puck up the wall. And so many times the puck is at their own blueline but just doesn't get out.

Tocchet will take the win......but won't be happy with some of his guys tonight.

On the positive side of the ledger Brannstrom is continue to improve almost every time out. Don't know what it is though, maybe it's the addition of guys like Lekkerimaki and Brannstrom, but this team looks so small at at times.

Still think they'll be looking for some additional size up front at the TDL.

Nice heavy intercessors. I paint Space Wolves.

Someone side "it looks like Pettersson flipped a switch," and I gotta ask if you're blind. Say what you will but he has been working his ass off trying to get out of the funk. Was a steady improvement from season's start until now.

Jyrki Lumme (one of the best ever Canucks trades). You've heard of him, right?

It's been a combination of bad luck, new contract shock, and eroded confidence for Pete. Glad to see him turning observable progress into tangible results.

These heavies...I didn't realize until I started working on them that some of their shoulder pads are built backwards haha (bought them 2nd hand already built to practice my skills)....not THAT big a deal, since I don't play the game and I still have another brand new box of heavies.

We had to win this one. And we need to win these next 3 at home. The one against the Rangers next week is iffy. They give us problems in our rink, but we can return the favour like last year in Madison Square.

We're doing okay, considering there's been no Demko, no Joshua, and now no Brockstar. Can't wait till they're all back.
