They need Silovs still, so they're giving him a game against a (lesser) opponent to hopefully bounce back and regain some confidence. If it doesn't then you look at Abby or other plans.

I'd still expect Lankinen to get a long run after this.

I want to see some new lines once Joshua returns:

DeBrusk-Miller-Boeser
Joshua-Pettersson-Garland
Hoglander-Blueger-Sherwood
Heinen-Suter-Bains
Sprong

I think that's a good overall mix of talent and grit throughout the lineup. Rotate Sprong in and out depending on injuries and performance. They really need to get DeBrusk going.

Where do we get the idea that Silovs is starting?

It shows up on the score app of all places that he's the confirmed starter. On (what I think is) a more reputable site, leftwinglock it still shows no confirmed starter with Lankinen projected.

Trotting Silovs back out there against an on-paper inferior opponent after getting shelled isn't the craziest idea, but I still think it makes our chances of winning less.

SJ doesn't suck as bad as last year, they try to win and can score.
If Silovs starts just get atleast one point, but I'll take the over again can't say no to easy money.

No confirmed starter according to Canucks beat writers.

It’s showed Silovs confirmed on the score app for a few days, probably a glitch. I’d be shocked if Lankinen didn’t start after last game.

It's the scorebox app showing Silovs as confirmed and Canucks reddit is running with it.

I actually don't mind starting Silovs. While he wasn't good, neither was anyone else. They need to play better in front of both goalies not just Lankinen. At the same time, I think it's better to give Silovs a chance to redeem himself instead of sitting him for another 5-6 games to stew on a horrendous loss.

That all being said, keep a short leash.

Practice:
-had a good video session today with fundamentals
-just need more fundamentals and all the system stuff will sort itself out
-be more connected on the ice
-can't worry about the opponent, worry about yourself; 90% about us and 10% the other team
-obviously need to respect the opponent

Joshua & Aman:
-Joshua is day-to-day
-thought process about waiving Aman is getting him into some games
-doesn't matter that 1 year ago today Canucks beat the Sharks 10-1

Sharks:
-was talking to Sharks coach and how that team is playing better hockey but they need to keep it up; the next day is different

Vancouver Area Prospects:
-unreal talent keeps coming up
-young players are so talent and people pay a lot of money to watch these guys play
-amazing to see

Bains:
-did a nice job in camp to make the roster
-hard part for young players is the consistency
-do the right things every game
-trying to find his identity

Balance Between Winning Every Day and Developing Players:
-went through this, what the Sharks are going through, in Arizona
-want to win but need to develop young players and get them to play the right way
-if you're losing games, need to keep the locker room and culture are good
-Sharks have some good young players

So Aman is on waivers this morning. A sure sign that Joshua's return will happen on one of the games in this SoCal road-swing.

It also means that Bains sticks, at least for the time being. Clearly Tocchet likes what he sees.

Scrolling back a few pages, some posters were less than bullish on Bains. And I suppose with his early play, it was easy to project him as a perpetual AHL-NHL 'tweener', who never make it permanently in the NHL.

But that assessment doesn't account for his relentless work ethic and determination to improve. I get that guys like Burrows and Tanev may come along only once or twice in a franchise's history. But will it be 'third time lucky'?

I legit don't understand our goalie rotation right now.

You need to get Silovs going. Tonight should be circled on the rotation for Silovs.

Just like the Pittsburgh game was a great opportunity for Silovs, a game that Lankinen got (he started the previous five in a row).

With no offense to Pittsburgh or San Jose, we should be looking at lesser opponents to get Silovs reps in.

New Jersey should have been a scheduled Lankinen game. When do you start Silovs next? Or do you just wait until Demko's phantom injury is healed?
