I really don't get why they want bains that high in the line up.
He looks good in the bottom 6 playing against the opposing teams bottom pair

Bains is clearly holding Joshua's spot. That third line with Heinen-Blueger-Sherwood has been good, so you don't want to break it up, and Hoglander has been pretty shit lately, so no reason to have him in the top six. There's no one else really.

Once Joshua is back, I'd expect Bains and Hoglander to basically compete for the last forward spot. Sprong to a degree, but he's been the best of the three lately (and he's a right shot).

Placeholder for Joshua and hoglander hasn't earned it, the other wingers are set on their lines.
Sprong the only other option, probably better, but also easing him in and he's doing quite well on the fourth line.

I think it might be less about Bains and more about Tocchet making a point to Hoglander after a few very sub-par games and efforts.

While true, I think it's been hurting Bains a bit as he's struggled to keep up with high level opposition. He showed good chemistry with Sprong and was able to take advantage of softer minutes, but he's a step behind in his awareness when matched up against better players.

Shouldn't be an issue against the Sharks, and hopefully after that Hoglander has learned his lesson and the Canucks can swap them back. That spot is likely Joshua's in the longer term, but he'll need time to ramp up when he gets back.

Will be nice to have him back.

Saw last year how the team looked different without him despite him not necessarily being a frontline player.

Player with a unique skillset that can be a difference maker whenever he displays a hard, consistent work-rate.

Would really like Sprong up there with Pettersson. In the last few games he's played, his speed in transition has drawn defenders onto him and created openings for his linemates. I know the coaches probably don't want to "reward" him with that type of ice, but it could do something to improve Pettersson's confidence on offensive opportunities.

They have missed Joshua big time. Every line is out of whack and suffers as a result of him being out of the lineup.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't our regression post-All Star Game occur at the same time as he was injured?

Yeah, and we were all making the comments we are now about how his swagger transforms our team. We looked lifeless without Joshua’s physicality and it looks the same now.

Can't wait to see what you cook up!
Cook up?

Barely beating a bad team is just that, it should have been easier?

IMO EP spends too much time trying to hit?

The defence isn't as good as last year? Opinion.

Don't you think if they lose to this team there should be concern or a party?

Today's Practice:
-was a good practice
-when you have a bad game, this team has a good practice right afterwards
-practices have to be more fundamental and detailed; takes the blame for this
-need some skating legs
-over the last 9 games has re-evaluated himself and thinks this team needs more fundamentals in practice

Forbort:
-will get back in when he's comfortable
-will talk to him on the plane today
-may play tomorrow
-didn't skate for a bit
-will be ready soon

Joshua:
-would say he's day-to-day
-depends on how comfortable he is
-will take another practice and see where he's at
-brings an attitude to the line-up
-good at body position and wall work
-adds a boost to winning battle
-net front presence
-good chemistry with Garland; something they can look for when he gets back
-need system guys but also want guys to be creative; 9/10 he'll be where he needs to be at the right time
-is a voice in the room; grew as a leader last year

DeBrusk:
-had a good talk with him today
-is too much on the outside and not in battle positions

Demko:
-had chunks of good days
-hasn't checked on him in a couple of days

Silovs:
-are some things on the he has to get better at
-the scrambles in front are finding their way in and last year they weren't
-needs to battle down a bit more

Body Language:
-a lot of guys body language needs to be better
-some of that negative attitude creeping back in; not to the extent of when he first got there
-his job to address this
-are at the state where they have to climb to the next level and be uncomfortable
