Canucks probably slap them around for 50-60 minutes

Can someone explain why they didn't wait to start Silovs in this game?

Seems like an awful coaching decision to play him against a team that has had no problem scoring.

Tocchet was signalling that Lankinen was tired. That’s the only reason I can see why they didn’t start him. Maybe the coaching staff asked Lankinen if he could start or maybe he asked for a break?

I don’t know

I was thinking the same last night. My only guess is they wanted to give him a chance to prove himself against a good team instead of the token "we don't really care about this bottom feeder game."

Now I could get the logic... if Silovs was playing decent but he's been dreadful. The kid absolutely needed a gimme game to at least try getting his confidence back. Instead, he's now the worst goalie in the NHL

The last thing we need right now is an injury to Lankinen. We usually lose to the Devils anyway, so I think they made the right calculation about using Silovs last night.

Either way its on Tocchet to make sure his starting goalie doesnt get too tired. That game was likely a huge blow to Silovs psyche and now its a question mark if he can back up games, whereas if he got an easy win against SJ that would likely settle him down a bit. He could have gotten the game against Chicago as well

They should send Silovs down and call up Patera. He can't be that much worse than current Silovs? The kid needs to go down, play, and regain his confidence.

I'm hoping for another "sometimes you go on a road trip and it resets you" narrative. Really need to take advantage of how weak this month is, schedule-wise.

Road Trip:
Sharks, Ducks, Kings

Home Stand:
Oilers, Flames, Islanders, Blackhawks & Predators (back-to-back), Rangers

Road Trips:
Bruins & Penguins (back-to-back), Sabres (then Red Wings, Wild to start December)

Lots of these teams are struggling, injured, or just plain bad.
